I reckon Vitali Klitschkos time as WBC champion is over, I give it a year tops until he retires. When this happens could we see Wladimir becoming an undisputed champion as with his brother out the way he would surely now challenge for the belt. It would be the first undisputed champion of the heavyweight division since Lewis in 1999.

I ask as undisputed champions are rare these days and I wonder whether the achievement would say more about the state of the HW division or Wladimirs ability.

Can he do it? Is it a credible achievement? Or am I writing off Vitali too soon?

Dumb dumb dumb. Wlad is undisputed champ, because you need just three titles to be undisputed. He will be the first champ ever who will have all the ****ing belts in a time where it is close to impossible to unife that much belts

Don't you need all 4 of WBC, WBO, WBA and IBF for it to be officially considered as undisputed?

I think Vitali does dispute it as he is a champ and people always ask who would win so there are clearly people who feel that Vitali is, or at least was, better.

Completely agree. Ashame the only two great fighters in the division for a LONG time are brothers and won't fight.

Undisputed is: WBC + WBA + IBF

If you don't have those 3 belts you are NOT UNDISPUTED, otherwise every schmuck will be undisputed

If Vitali vacates the WBC, then he will give his brother a chance to become Undisputed

But the WBC have a "No Unification" rule now so it'd be impossible anyway.

I think that as soon as Vitali vacates the WBC belt you can call Wlad the undisputed champ. The WBC doesn't want to be in a unification because that means they lose a lot of control over the belt. Nobody (sane) on the planet will call the guy who picks up the vacant strap to be "the champ" instead of Wlad.

Without the WBC he is. Vitali holding that belt doesn't change anything.

Sure it does. It means it belongs to Vitali and not Wlad, therefor Wlad is not undisputed champ.

WBC have a no unification rule though anyway. So how can you become undisputed now?

Vitali beat Samuel Peters for the WBC someone Wlad already beat.

Since wbc won't allow unification bouts the "undisputed" accomplishment is now impossible and/or meaningless. Given the plethora of meaningless titles, it makes sense to view WK as "the champ" at HW - screw the belts and all other titles.

Look here, I've became an archeologist!

Question to the new (and the old I guess too, lol) guard here: did you consider Wlad the undisputed champion after Vitali vacated the WBC belt and before Stiverne won it?

He was introduced as such in his bouts against Leapai and Pulev and technically there was no dispute who was the champion since nobody else had a claim.
