Vlad was a fantastic boxer, with huge power, fantastic left jab, hook off the jab, a left hook that would kill, right hand that would kill, right hook, uppercut, although he rarely ever used it, but I have seen his use it before, I have all Klitschko fights on tape, both Vitali and Vlad. He had great balance............................Vitali was a warrior with a rock chin..........................
So why the fudge should we listen to a guy with poor fundamentals about the fundamentals of boxing? I will never watch a sky sports propaganda video like that, but if it has any merit it will just be Wlad explaining how being tall is the key to HW boxing. If Wlad had the exact same skillset but was Joe Parker's height, he might never have held a belt. You simply can't hold and lean on bigger men with longer arms. You can't avoid a bigger, man's punches with no lateral movement and by jumping back in straight lines. You can't constantly paw with the jab if your opponent has longer arms. Add in the fact his holding and leaning were 100% illegal tactics that relied on weak referees and you have the reasons why the least fundamentally sound boxer in HW championship history managed to hold titles for so long.
This disappoints me that there are too many interviews where Wlad is talking like he's explaining something to a 4-year old kid. I believe he's intelligent enough to think of something more insightful.
His English is basic conversation English that a foreigner learns while living abroad for a few years. It is not graduate level so he will have a hard time being articulate or in depth with it. Vitali is even worse.
I like this line of thinking. I dislike when coaches believe there is one set template on a stance lol. Everyone would Box the same King Klitschko is right
Strongly disagree. His English is more than fine.. better than anyone else's from Eastern Europe (I mean boxing community), and one of the best among the fighters that came to the US from non-English speaking countries. It's not a problem for him, and his interviews in other languages are basically the same.
English boxers at the beginning were flat footed, narrow stanced, and straight legged. I don't care what style you are, that's dog ****.
Wlad has it right, each man has to pick the best stance for him. If you have longer than average forearms, you got a better guard to cover more of your body.
Wlad grew on me over time. SUre some of his fights were boring but he still the only thing you could ask of a champion and that is beat the people who are in front of you. Also a terrific person for our sport.
