I just checked. Douglas was rated # 7 by Ring Magazine when he fought mike tyson and max schmeling was rated # 2 by ring magazine when he fought joe louis in 36

 

NO! entering the wladimir fight, sanders was UNRATED. ONLY AFTER he beat wlad, did he jump up to the # 3 spot.


In fact I just checked a bunch of my ring magazine articles from 2001-2002 and none of the annuel lists had him top 10, and NONE OF THE WBA IBF WBC WBO SANCTIONS HAD HIM RATED IN THE TOP 30!!!!!

how can i be biased against a fan I am a huge fan of and defend?

I am a huge wladimir klitschko fan. the wlad of the 1990s was one of my favorite fighters of all time, the next joe louis i used to say.

I think vitali klitschko is the most overated fighter of our era....but make no mistake about it I love wladimir Klitschko. he just has more to prove to me.

 

His jab went from a snapping hammer to a lazy paw. His right hand went from a sneaky menacing weapon to a exagerated telegprahed forced punch, and his left hook which formed a dynamite two punch combination in the 1990s is now non existent.


I wouldnt pick many h2h over wladimir of the 1990s. In fact I think the 1990s wladimir beats tua, ike and possibly knocks out lennox. wlad was the # 1 rated contender 2001-2002 and lennox wanted no part of him. I still got the ring magazine articles from 2000-2002 calling lennox lewis out to fight wladimir. vitali certainly doesnt have a shot against a 1990s wlad. wlad did everything far better than his brother. wlad was a two fisted assasin in the 1990s the most talented superheavyweight i ever seen that got leverage into each punch, and was unbelievably aggresive .


once wlad got his 3 biggest flaws exposed......his chin, his stamina, and his mental frame......he panicked and changed his style....because he does not want to get his chin clocked again. the only dangerous puncher he fought since was brewster and peter, brewster knocked him out and peter nearly did the same flooring him 3 times. lets see what happens when this version of wlad faces a dangerous puncher...who will test him mentally.



Wlad to me is one of the biggest waste of talents i have ever seen......but he still has time with top young talent coming up out there to improve his legacy...

 

You said he ranks 42nd, so I'm gussing that number isn't plucked out of thin air.

Those in green should not rate higher than Wlad. In general they have a worse winning percentage, were Ko'd by more often, didn't have as good as a title record, and would likely be losers in a head ot head match ups vs Wlad.

 

just curious by ur standards....gene tunney had 8 career heavyweight fights.....why does he rate over wladimir but not walcott schmeling charles patterson?

 

Not to nitpick but are KO percentage and # of KOs really irrefutable reasons to rank one fighter over another?

LaMar Clark needs to be in my top 10 heavyweights then, and Greb isn't going in my P4P top 100 anymore.

 

How about comparing, winning percentage, KO%, and record in title bouts vs fighters who have made it to the championship level? Here, Wlad outshines many alphabet, linear, and x champions.

Anyone with an objective mind would see that a Povetkin win would launch him from #42 to #37, not #36. Remember there are studs like Zora Foley and Cleveland Williams with better wins, fewer losses, more years in the #1 position and a better overall career.

It doesnt matter who was kayoed less. it matters when the kayoes happened. Most of those 30 guys were taking on top fighters regulary week after week, and in that kind of gruelling schedule you can EXPECT some losses here and there.
