Let me get this straight, going by your list you obviously without doubt rate Ike Ibeubuchi above the below Ezzard Charles Joe Walcott Floyd Patterson Max Schmeling Pinklon Thomas and many others that's just incredible.
I still fail to see what KO% and number of KOs has to do with ranking one fighter over another. Archie Moore is his daddy, then.
It's called selective criteria to make our favoured fighter stand out. Willie Pep and Pernell Whitaker are crap fighters, of course
First off, Wlad was 22 when he lost to Purrity. Hardly his prime. Secondly both Brewster and Sanders proved to be highly rated fighters. That is what matters, and they proved their rating by beating Wlad among other fighters. Charles and Walcott were Ko'd by unrated guys. So was Dempsey, Tyson, Jack Johnson and others. Was Martin rated when he Ko'd Liston? Was Garcia rated when he KO'd Norton? Try addressing my entire post head on. Compared to the very best, Wlad stacks up well.
Who exactly did Sanders beat, other than Wladimir? He was unranked coming into the Wladimir fight. After beating Wladimir, he was KO'd by Vitali (not a win), beat a couple of bums, and then starched in 1 by a bum. Brewster didn't do much, either. Prior to beating Wladimir he hadn't beaten anybody worthy of note. Afterwards, Meehan Krasniqi, and Golota, but then was decisively UD'd by Lyakovich and embaressed in the rematch with Klitschko. Tyson was KO'd by those unrated guys when he was nearly 38 and over fifteen years past his prime. Liston was 37 or 38 when he was stopped, once, by Martin - in his second-to-last fight. Dempsey was KO'd once, but it's arguable that the fight was a fix. Even then, one KO loss pre-prime to a washed-up contender is better than one KO loss to a journeyman, a KO loss to a non-contender, and a KO loss to a non-contender who would go on to become a mediocre beltholder. Charles wasn't KO'd by an unranked fighter until he was something like 35, and that was after the 2x losses to Marciano that effectively ruined him as a world-class fighter. He was losing to everybody at that point. Walcott was stopped by an unranked fighter when he was 22 years old. He was stopped by Tiger Jack Fox at 23, who may or may not have been ranked, but even if he wasn't I'd put him above Ross Purrity level. His other four KO losses were to Marciano 2x (ATG puncher) Joe Louis (do I even need to justify this one?) and Abe Simon (ranked contender, puncher). Johnson's was KO'd twice in his early twenties, but not again until he was 37, by Jess Willard , a top-10 contender. His next stoppage losses were at the ages of 48, 50 (twice), 53, and 60!! Garcia was indeed unranked when he KO'd Norton, but I don't even consider Norton an ATG. Norton had a TERRIBLE record vs. punchers, in general.
