Eddie Hearn has just confirmed on twitter that Wlad has retired from boxing, it would have been good to see the AJ rematch but you can't blame him for hanging the gloves up, what do we wanna see AJ do now?
first of all, what a career, he may have his detractors, he may not have been in a particularly strong era or been the most entertaining but he ruled the glamour division for a decade, wish him all the success in what he does next. onto AJ, he fights Pulev next
Going out with the unreal effort he put forth against Joshua is the perfect way to go out. He doesn't have to prove anything with a rematch.
Fair Play to him, he took two defeats to two up and coming champions* - there's no need for him to take another loss and tarnish his record... Happy Retirement Wlad. *Let's just hope the furious one returns.
Even though Wladimir had a boring boxing style I gained a lot of respect for him after his performance against AJ and I hope he enjoys retirement
I expected this with him taking so long to decide on the rematch. No shame in not taking it, he couldn't have put in more effort than what he did in the first fight. Excellent career, ATG for sure.
Joshua has to fight Pulev or he loses the ibf next. At least this means Joshua will have another HUGE fight in 2018 rather than the pulev and then possibly a big one. This more or less guarantees it. Took two brits to end the Klitschko era.
Well, will have to be Pulev unfortunately. The only plus point of this fight is hearing Pulev moan about how he was winning the fight in the post fight interview after the inevitable KTFO.
Right decision. Excellent career and a great role model. Intelligent guy who gave us a fantastic exit fight. Wish Wlad all the best I just hope someone has Dino on suicide watch now that his second hero has retired
i think hearn wants bellew or whyte to fight parker if he beats fury, then get aj to fight wilder at some point
Right decision. Right for him, right for AJ, right for boxing. He had no more to give in the first fight and still lost. Why risk his health for a title at 41 years of age. Pulev will be next. That will take all of 6 or 7 rounds, and then who knows. Sky's the limit for AJ now.
