I think he has to fight Pulev now - I believe the exception was only for the Wlad fight because it was such a big event. Hopefully get's Pulev out the way then a big fight vs Wilder or Parker early next year. There really is a lack of decent fights for him though, even Parker and Wilder are unknowns to casuals.
The wise decision. The was no shame losing to a very good young roided fighter in their prime. We all know he'd have destroyed him if he wasn't a old man at the tail end of his career. Close the chapter and leave it behind with your head held high, no need to chase the dragon, as metal plate belts are not worth risking your health over. Another bonus is that you don't give the roider another payday, let him face the young heavies who are in their prime. No more old men.
Should at least have a farewell fight in Germany against someone like Lucas Browne... But glad to see him decide not to take the AJ rematch and retire, even though in all honesty it wouldn't have been a terrible fight to make - he would have likely taken a lot of punishment again win or lose. No need to do that when you have 10s of millions in the bank. Enjoy retirement champ! Thanks for the memories.
Good choice, at this point he's still young enough to make a successful comeback in 2-5 years. Maybe clears his head by surfboarding and banging Hayden and then takes a fresh new start.
wlad has been a great champion. i wonder what he'll do from here, not like him (or his brother) to just splash around in cash after retirement i hope he stays involved in the scene
Legend of the sport, hope he enjoys his retirement Pulev next then, I wonder if Eddie will ask Wlad to reimburse the £20k IBF exemption fee.
Sad news. I still think he had much more to offer, and wasn't finished as some people think. Don't know about Joshua, but I knew he would have beat Fury in the rematch if it had occurred.
The Buddha once said ''Truth is bitter in the beginning, sweet in the end, while lies are sweet in the beginning, bitter in the end'' Take heed.
Understandable and probably correct decision but I was really looking forward to the rematch and was convinced we were getting it. Oh well, we have the epic showdown with Pulev to look forward to….
Oh , you bet your ass it was two Brits who ended it. Getting battered on home soil in front of 90 , 000 fans was the perfect ending to this guys career.
