Wlad's chin is not as bad as Khan's. Klitschko has mediocre chin and Khan has glass that shatters every time somebody land a jab on it.

 

because wlad has a thundering jab, pulverizing overhand right while possessing both reach and height advantages over his opponents.

there is really very little hope for amir khan as the book has been written. if you can withstand his early onslaught and weather the storm you simply just need to clip him(before it was a solid shot but his punch resistance now is all but gone) and you can get him out of there.

its really not that difficult and anyone with decent power and a solid chin is a bad opponent for khan which means that he is going to have problems with any top jww and any top ten ww.

 

Wlad has a pretty good chin. This is indicated by the fact that he's NEVER been KOed! As a youngster he threw too many punches and punched himself out. This is an easy weakness to overcome, in that all you have to do is not underestimate your opponents, and try to KO them in the first round.

Khan has a terrible glass jaw. This can only be overcome by never getting hit! Nothing like as easy to overcome this type of weakness!

Oh, and he's not even remotely in Wlad's talent range too!

 

I couldn't have said it better myself. Wlad has been able to use his physical advantages to safety first his way to victory. That, and Vitali takes on the few heavyweights who would actually push Wlad.

I also agree that Wlad's humble nature aided his rebound. He constantly hears the "boring" label and doesn't go out to prove people wrong; even when he had the opportunity against much smaller men like Haye.

 

Wlad has great physical strength, punching power and a sharp boxing brain. The tools were always there to mould an effective style.

Khan lacks any of these attributes at world class level. He doesn't have the strength to stand his ground against pressure, the punching power to discourage his opponent, or the ring intelligence to control a fight and fight a disciplined gameplan.

Khan's freakish speed and athleticism can overcome these defects against most fighters, but he inevitably will get starched or beat down every few fights against top 5 guys.

 

Less brutal? Take a minute(literally) and go re-watch the fight with Prescott, Khan was annihilated. Wlad has some bad losses, but he was never stopped in that brutal brutal of a fashion. Khan doesn't have the motivation to fix the holes in his style, Khan is too cocky and arrogant to accept the fact that he has flaws. Wlad unlike Khan was humbled by his losses, and they made him a better fighter. Khan is an arrogant piece of ****, and his glass jaw and arrogance will fail him again.

Wlad was never KO'd to the point where he could not get up. But Khan had only had that happen ONCE, and that was at a weight he was drained, and it shows. His latest KO, was similar to a classic Wlad one. He was up and could have continued, but like Wlad, you could tell by his body language, that physical exhausted look and movement, that it was not a good idea.

Wlad doesn't have a good jaw... Khan can take blows too without always going down, but he still has a bad jaw, like Wlad. Please lets not get above ourselves here.

 

I think Wlad had the tools for a complete style overhaul. Due to his size, he could protect his chin by staying out of range and using the jab, use his huge size to swamp guys if they got close enough to do any damage, he's athletic enough to make up for any lapses until he gets back to his game plan. Khans not got a size advantage at light welterweight, and really won't if he goes to welterweight. He's got speed so his best stratedgy logically would be a hit and run approach, but really he's in a division with guys in the same ball park for speed, he's going to get caught alot no matter what he does and he just can't deal with that.
