I've never been entirely convinced by Wlad, but if he were to beat Chagaev and Haye within three weeks of each other he would surely be a top 10 HW!!!!

Of course it won't happen. Hopefully Haye will fight Arreola next and spark him out (not guaranteed, if Arreola goes for it he could stop Haye easily, though I lean towards Haye to draw Arreola onto his right hand) but I cannot see how Chagaev will be cleared to fight????????

SURELY THE LOGICAL FIGHT IS WLAD VS VALUEV??!?!!??!

This is a real fight, Ruslin has beaten Valuev and Ruiz and is a solid guy. Vlad has to be reconized as the real champ should he win. This leaves Vitali as the co-champ but they are brothers so I do not think anyone really expect them to fight...Vitali should fight Valuev and who does that leave....Dimentrenko/Chambers winner Areola/Haye winner get to fight for titles and for now Vitali/Valuev would be an interesting watch

Not true. Ruiz didn't arguably beat Chagaev at all. Ruiz was outworked, outmuscled & beaten to the punch.

.......................and who actually thinks Haye is the #3 Heavyweight anyway? That's ridiculous since he's only fought Bonin & Barrett and neither was top 10 material at the time.

So you agree with me then, Lineage is flawed, stupid and made up retrospectively.... It is just another title in the alphabet world of boxing.

Finally, a lineal champ at heavy?

At least we'd have someone who is recognized as heavyweight champion.

To me, the Ring belts me MUCH MUCH more than any alphabet belt.

But you can, it was a significant selling point in making Michael Spinks very rich in the Tyson fight.

I think Joe Louis would of traded in his lineage title to have a better standard of living and the tax man of his back.

Sullivan made money on tours, due to his lineage.

Ali made more money in the Holmes fight on the basis of his lineage.

Lineage is just another tool to make money, if it did not make someone, somewhere money, it would lack any mainstream relevance in the world of Professional Boxing........

If there is a lineage Heavyweight champion created in the next few years, a premium would be added to the purse of that champion due to him holding this mythical crown.

So from that point of view, Lineage is a boxing prop, a title to make money, the same as any other alphabet title.

The highest honour any Heavyweight can aspire to, is to be the generally considered Heavyweight Champion of the World. To gain this title, he may, or may not hold lineage, it is down to how it is spun to the public.

    exactly.

And then there is another huge factor in all of this for the last 30 years; If a guy is not signed with Don King Promotions, how in the world can you get the 4 title opportunities and /or not be stripped of a title at some point in time? There are multiple no. 1 contenders and selecting 1 guy means you are not meeting the other 3 organization's no. 1 guy. If you are signed up w/ King, fighters have some get out of jail free cards to play. If you aren't signed to DKP, you are going to get stripped of a belt long before having the opportunity to acquire the 4 belts.

Plus, you have the factor of networks added to the soup and it really makes things impossible and very difficult to represent even 2 belts for any sort of long term.

I'd like your input on a huge factor, in my book anyway; overcoming an achilles heel problem.

To me, the 3 worst injuries in the sport are rotator cuff/major knee or ankle injuries/ major back issues. The problem with the leg surgeries are magnified by the guys that depend on their movement in there. For the stationary or plant their feet to punch guys, it's obviously not as big of a factor. But Ruslan used that a lot. And that heel was tore up bad, is my understanding.

The other factor is I do not like using the Valuev reflexes as a measurement compared to the Wladimir reflexes. Upper body movement and agility are going to be tough for Valuev and are never going to put him in the best light--he's not exactly multi-dimensional in there & his speed isn't going to be a factor either.

I'd like your input on this also; How does Chagaev react to fients?
Specifically, how does he react to fients when the other guy is landing punches, not fients from a guy doing nothing in there. A whole different ballgame.

Wlad is tricky with his fients and is quite effective at it the 2nd half of his bouts. After he's already landed punches and starts those fients in the 8th round or so. I think that's a major reason he's the rare breed of heavyweight that gets late ko's.

    Thanx.

Sunday Times today reports this fight is signed for the 20th of June, the fight takes place at the Schalke 04 Veltins Arena.
Wlad said "I now have to change my sparring partner form orthodox to southpaw".
You can forget the Haye fight for the foreseeable future.

I know Chagaev pretty well from watching his fights. To say is specialty is much bigger fighters is not true. Chagaev had his hands full with Virchis, who is semi slow and not very defensive, and Valuev who seems to just do enough to win vs top 30 opponents. Chagaev used his speed and counter punching to defeat Virchis and Valuev but Valuev and Virchs are slow compared to Wlad. Virchis and Valuev are not " super heavyweights with skills " They do not have Wlad's skills on offense or defense, speed, or the ability to throw as many punches as Wlad can. I just can't see Chagaev defeating Wlad the way he edged Valuev or Virchis.

Chagaev is listed at 6'1" with a 74" reach, and I think both numbers might be inflated by an inch or so. Rulslan has a fair defense, but he really is not a big time bob and weave guy, and his feet are pretty much average. I don't think Chagaev can work his way in past Wlad's arsenal on a consistent basis in this match.

I make Chagaev a 3-1 underdog based on his skills, power, durability, and pretty quick hands. I also think he's a tad too stationary and short to win here. I give Chagaev a little more than a puncher's chance, which in Chagaev's case is magnified because he is very durable, skilled on offense and defense and can hit.
