You guys are overly optimistic about a guy thats never beaten a decent heavyweight and had a dodgy chin at cruiserweight. Those two factors alone tell you that you should heavily favour Klitschko, and after his performance tonight...well... I'd like to see Haye win, but he's a big underdog.
I think Haye's jab would cause Wlad problems, and have him off kilter enough to give Haye the chance to follow up with the right. The jab is the key for Haye, he can't simply wind up the right hand.
This is very easy to say but believe me i think it will be very hard to push past Wald's jab. Even when he does get past it Wald ties fighters up. He is very smart he won't let a fighter stand in there range in front of him while he is not comfortable. Soon as a fighter charges past his jab Wald will tie him up and wait for the ref to break them apart and let wald get back into his range. I can see a few fighters doing this a few times before they realise its a lost cause.
chagaev was bobbing and weaving sideways..but in doing so was a sitting duck for wlads left hand.He never tried to use it as a tool to get his shots off on the inside or to rush him...when he did rush him at the end of round 5 i think it was wlad shat himself!! but heck atleast the guys got the baws to take a beating...im happy to watch and slate.
what a brillient performance by Wlad, whatever happened to Haye was a blessing in disguise as his career would've ended tonight
I think with Hayes speed it would be possible to go round the outside of Wlads jab and throw a bomb. Seemed weird that Chagaev was going the opposite way. :huh
I'm surprised how down everyone is on Haye's chances versus Wlad. Look at Wlad tonight. Even when he landed on Chagaev he didn't follow up and get him out of there, he carried on behind the jab, being cautious. So Haye should have enough time to get his feet under the table and compose himself. He certainly won't have to worry about gassing and getting arm weary. If he can just take a couple of Wlad's shots, I think he'll do him.
I agree, its not as simple as rushing the jab. For a big bloke Wlad has very good movement, when the movement doesn't work he ties the opponent up. After trying that for a few rounds and getting 1-2'd for their troubles fighters tend to back off and Wlad just dominates with the jab.
The thing with walds jab is he doesn't throw it the full way out he always has it close by incase this happens. Well thats what i think he holds it midway anyway . I can see what you mean though Haye has very good speed and might catch him off guard.
The thing is, what else do you do? Stand and try head movement = jab in face all night. Hold hands up high = jab in face all night Try to get your jab going = jab in face all night The reason I advocate "rushing" him is the way he shites himself. Against a more composed fighter (for example LL) it would be suicide, but with Wlad so scared he actually kicked his leg out, it might be a good tactic.
