Wladimir Klitschko should drop the WBO belt and fight someone other than Leapai

A win over Alex Leapai is meaningless for Wladimir Klitschko. An it's a matchup that's sure to produce a dull, sloppy fight, because of the styles (Leapai will repeatedly rush in like Povetkin) and the height difference (Wlad vs. Tyson Fury would be an entertaining fight).

How much prime does Wladimir have left? I could see signs of Wladimir Klitschko aging in his two fights in 2013 against Pianeta and Povetkin, although he appeared in his prime against Mariusz Wach.

He should give up the WBO belt and fight some more meaningful opponents like Tyson Fury, Tomasz Adamek, Odlanier Solis or Bermane Stiverne before he gets too old.

And he should fight 3 times this year. Rather than wait a long time for the purse bid and other arrangements for the Leapai fight, then not really have enough time to fight twice more in 2014, he should just set up a fight in March with someone else.

Leapai-Klitschko was nearly signed for April 26, but now it's going to purse bid

Another source for Klitschko-Leapai going to purse bid, use google translate

Mind you, no matter who Wlad fights, the usual haters will bash him.

A win over Leapai is meaningless but I don't like Wlad giving up the WBO belt either. This is why boxing needs one GOOD boxing organization that doesn't let bums like Boytsov and Leapai fight an eliminator for a mandatory shot. That way a boxer only needs one belt to be considered champ of their division.

Okay Boytsov and Leapai aren't bums but they didn't deserve a shot at the champ either.

If he dropped the belt to fight a more worthy opponent i dont see how anyone could bash him for it. I think he would gain more respect!

No thanks, we barely got Vitali out so we have an Undisputed champion

Nothing wrong with fighting more often, even if not all are as great as Wilder. Joe Louis used to feast on Bums too

Not when he's this close to total unification he shouldn't. It will probably be a long time before we'll see anyone at the top long enough to unify all 4 major belts one at a time again. It's been over 25 years since Tyson unified the 3 major belts of the time and 15 years since Lennox snagged 3/4 (2 of them in one shot against Holyfield).

No heavyweight's ever gotten all 4 at the same time.

not every Mand fight is going to be a barn burner. Wlad and team klitschko have worked way to hard on full unification to drop a belt because some think the MAND fighter is not worthy...........NO WAY

You beat this guy in great fashion to show the organizations "pick better mands" and then we move on with our master plan.... simple as that

say what you want about Leapai....... but lets not forget, he beat the **** out of the current WBO mand (Boystov) and should get credit for that.......

if the WBO want to congratulate his victory by naming him NEW WBO MAND... then so be it...

we will take on this challenge like we do all challenges... we will prepare hard and focused as always and defend what is ours...the WBO BELT.

lol@ people thinking the WBO would actually strip him. "team klitschko ' want to take the fight. They probably ordered it themselves.

At the end of the day they ordered Boytsov to be ranked #1.

I never said he was a bum... actually I give him a tom of credit for coming to the boystov fight ready to kick ass

I don't care who he fought or who he has not... he is Wlads mand and we take that very serious.... if it a KO, it will come when it comes

But if Stiverne beats Arreola, Don King will never let him unify with Wladimir.

Stiverne will probably just sit on the belt for several years without defending it like Guillermo Jones did with the WBA cruiserweight belt.
