The Mormeck fight is his 12th Defense. Hes only 35 so 5 more years of making 3 defenses a year will see him break the record. Its not impossible If he wants to stick around looking at the state of the division.

He's almost destined to break any reasonable top ten. If he has the hunger I can easily see him finishing top 5.

Since beating byrd he's been top dog and that's 6 years running already.

Its a hard thing to do break a record....I do think a few more good fights against Povetkin and a few others will put Vlad up there his quality has been fine, let face it he is fighting whats out there, Valuev ducked him and Vitali and that is a fight I would like to see....I think Thompson, Chagaev, Brock, Ibragimov would have been strong contenders in the 70's and 80's and 90's its just today is never as good as yesterday...I lived all those decades with boxing knowledge so i KNOW its always 6 of one half a dozen of another

He could certainly break the record, if you also put the most gigantic asterisk you can fit on a page, right next to the record. An asterisk so big that wherever you are, you can charge tourists to "see the world's biggest asterisk" wherever you've written the stat down.

No I dont think he can.At his age I cant see him fighting three times a year for the next few years.I dont think he will be fighting to 40 like his big brother.I can see around 6 fights left for him before he finishes.

Wladimir should not even be mentioned with the name Joe Louis. He is the biggest fraud in heavyweight history.

Wlad has to fight more cab drivers, light heavies and ice cream truck drivers every month in order to match Louis both in competition level and title defenses

If Vlad has never won the World Championship, how can he break the record for most defences of said World Championship?

He might but it will be done to little fanfare considering his opposition, the alphabet titles and his brother being the top heavyweight alongside him. It's as if Ali and Frazier were brothers.

Wlad is a *paper* champion and cannot be mentioned in the same breath as Joe Louis.

    Please stop this nonsense...
