I agree he was in his prime way above commonwealth level but we saw holyfield vs belfort and tyson vs paul . Yes , wlad is 10 years younger but belfort and paul were also not even close to be world top 15 . Not even close... Interesting theme and i like klitschko but i,m pretty sure he would simply go down quickly against wardley today .
I don't think 48 is too old to win a title but in terms of starting a comeback it probably is too late. The HW division is very clogged this wouldn't be an ideal situation even if Wlad had something to give. HWs got an amazing top 50 fighters right now I don't see a path for him. The size advantages that peak Wlad relied on so heavily are mostly gone. If we look at the history of old boxers having success I don't think any of them "got the ball rolling" for a comeback at 48. Lyles comeback doesn't count cause he was fighting low level pros. If he wants to do that he can have some fun and retire on a win streak. But lets make it clear by low level pros i mean pros with losing records against opponents with losing records. Not the "cans" people lambast contenders for padding their resume with. If Wlad can still beat those sort of guys I think he would only be able to do so with great difficulty.
Wlad would do about as well as Bjorn Borg did when he came back after 9 years retirement from tennis, still using a wooden racket and couldn't win a game. It would be truly horrible to watch.
Briggs is still itching to fight and him and Wlad have a long standing beef. Would be fun while it lasted.
