Shavers made his name knocking out truckloads of guys with losing records, his whole reputation as a great fighter is built on his knockdown of Larry Holmes, it took him 22 rounds to land that one punch of significance against Holmes, he got schooled in every other round leading up to and after that punch.

Wlad haters will say Shavers of course, but the reality is he would be completely outclassed by Wlad. Shavers was not in the same league.

He's not in the same league as top 10 Heavyweight of all time Larry Holmes, yet Shavers still managed to give him hell on earth.

He had a big punch Shavers, but that's all he had. If you allow him to land it then sure... good chance he's going to put you down. He wouldn't get a chance to land it against Klitschko.

What about Ken Norton? Excellent heavyweight, gave Holmes a great fight months prior to fighting Shavers, was guaranteed a rematch had he won, the second best heavyweight in the world...and he was stopped in 1.

Shavers didn't just fight Ali and Holmes.

Yeah Norton was a good fighter, he was near the end of his career when he fought Shavers, and he got destroyed in one against Cooney as well, struggled against LeDoux, did Shavers beat anyone else of note?
I can't understand how he has been built up as some amazing fighter here, he was mediocre with excellent power, 99% of his victories were against nobodies, guys with records like 11-26. I could understand the poll results if it's just people ****ing with Klitschko fans, but I'm shocked anyone truly believes Shavers would have more than a prayer in this fight.

The problem is that he probably would.

Look, I'm not hating Wladimir here. I just feel that he is the best out of a VERY bad bunch of HWs. 1970-2000 he wouldn't be at the top of the tree like he is now.

He is very good but upon retirement he will be forgotten very quickly. There is nothing defing about him unfortunately.

So you think Norton was a great fighter? a man that was down 11 times in 8 fights of a 40 fight career. but Waldimir Klitschko has been 12 times in 5 fights in a 60 fight career, but Wald is [you say] a poor champion, the haters are really funny!:lol:

Quarry had a far, far better chin (and greater durability) than Wlad.

That is not up for debate.
