As you mention in a later post, a 45 year old fighter from the 1970's WAS one of the Top-8 of the 1990's.

WTF? How do you know? Wlad was stopped due to his chin once and it was against Sanders who could bang harder than both of them. Two losses was due to his stamina issue and had nothing to do with his chin. WTF are you talking about? Ali and Holmes could not stop Norton who didn't have the best chin. Holmes couldn't stop Spinks in to fights. You have nothing to base your statement on.

Shavers always sucked, no skills , no chin. Wlad KO1. Total mismatch.

His fight with Norton was good but his fight with Foreman was great. FOTY actually.

    Tough fight indeed

Wlad will never out live the bad chin accusations by haters

His chin is above average, he never has been out cold, vs Purrity and Brewster it was pure exhaustion that did him in. Vs Sanders he got up from every knock down

Shavers has been knocked ice cold before.

Wlad is a big puncher a much bigger puncher than Holmes or Ali.

Wlad can keep him out of range with superior height and reach

Also Wlad has way better foot work

Shavers may go 3 or 4 rounds not landing a flush bomb while eating dozens of hard jabs and some right bombs and left hooks

By then hed be hurt, bruised, tired, and losing confidence

Shavers has great power but thats it

There is not much going for Shavers in this matchup. Size, skills, footwork, stamina are all against him. Shavers has punchers chance but so does everybody else. Long shot - he won't be able to land anything substantial on Wlad unless Wlad makes a bad mistake. Wlad KO/TKO.

it's pretty simple. Ali and Holmes were great finishers. Holmes having a harder punch. Norton wasn't stopped because of how awkward and hard he was to fight against skilled boxers.

Wlad isn't used to getting pressured and actually being fought on the outside by two skilled men in Holmes and Ali. Wlad also simply doesn't have a good defense and certainly wouldn't do well when brought out of his comfort zone. They probably stop wlad late.

By my standards I thought Young-Norton was great especially from a technical standpoint but Young-Foreman had it all. Heart, skills, defense, counterpunching and survival all displayed and Young overcame a scare in the 7th to win. Young could outsmart sluggers and puzzle boxers there really was no one I saw that looked good/great against him for the whole fight especially when he was prime and/or focused. A brilliant boxer he was.

IF SHAVERS CONNECTS....TIMBER.......BUT I THINK THE FACT THAT SHAVERS DIDNT MOVE HIS HEAD LIKE TYSON OR JAB LIKE TYSON.....AND WASNT AS FAST AS TYSON.....WOULD MAKE WLAD THE FAVORITE IN THIS FIGHT/WLAD WOULD USE HIS REACH AND KEEP SHAVERS AT BAY......AND TKO SHAVERS IN 9 RDS OR LESS( AND I DONT LIKE WLAD ONE BIT):smoke:smoke

As mad as this may sound, I wouldn't be surprised if Shavers scored a first round KO! Seriously, Earnie knew only one way - & he would know that going for the KO quick time would be his best chance.

If he lands cleanly, Wladamir is out cold & the referee stops counting after about four seconds as he knows the count is irrelevant! If Earnie puts it on Wladamir straight away he would take him out!

Shavers was ruthless though. he did have a nice stiff jab and could take a nice shot. his main problem was stamina. not having a bad chin.
