"Dismantling opponents systematically" is probably the best way to describe both styles of the Klitschkos. I found to appreciate "The art of boxing tall" they mastered to learn and are not going for the knockout right away even when they could. Leapai is by no means anywhere near Wladimirs level but Wladimir was insanely active and mobile for being 38 year old heavyweight with 65+ fights.

The thing I liked the most was the way Klitschko learned to dose his power and therefore keep his activity up. He always threw his right hand with full force and planted his feet, now throwing lead right hands and "softer" jabs to keep his opponent at bay all the time, kind of like Vitali since his comeback, that's the reason Leapai couldn't set up anything at all. He looked much lighter on his feet too, seems in better shape with not too much unnecessary muscle mass.

The Povetkin bout had Wladimir on the backfoot too but he opted to clinch when Povetkin got in his chest rather than take a step back, also not setting up his right hand properly, loading up and missing most of them, that's what was so frustrating, I think he learned quite a bit from the Povetkin fight and trained with Banks on a "new style" that we saw against Leapai. It is particularly suited for smaller pressure fighters.

Taller guys like Pulev, Fury or Wilder would bring out a different Wladimir who is looking to land a big bomb earlier.

Klitschko could still stay on top for a long time, maybe another 4 years.

I agree. I thought he was fighting more like Vitali yesterday. Props to Banks too, he might be the undefeated champ for 15 years if he continues to fight like this.

Wlad did look good by his standards, but he was fighting part time fighter who is truck driver literally, no disrespect to Leapai but thats what he is, he showed heart but he simply isnt good enough for sparring with Wlad.
Wlads skills are not the problem like you mentioned in other fights he chooses not to step back and throw punches but to clinch non stop even vs shot to **** Mormeck, thats what often pisses me of with all the talent in the world tremendous power and great technique he stinks the place up in 95% of his fights, but i agree he can rule the division for few more years.

Lately i tought he was ageing.

But last night he looked in his '20s. He was impressive, ans so active, accurate and simply dominant that not Leapai nor anyone else could have done much.

He really looks like he could go other 3 years easily.

I heard he didn't clinch as much.

I also heard Alex Leapai is a punching bag, straight up.

Looked excellent last night admittedly against a C level opponent, but in his recent fights I've thought he had become musclebound, too big. But last night he looked more trim around the arms and shoulders. Good performance though.

Vitali is worth watching, the man fights and doesn't overly hug and molest his opponents. He keeps throwing and uses leg movement as defense rather than the power of love:

I wouldn't even dare compare the two. Wladimir hugs the likes of Byrd and Leapai for crying out loud.

You obviously didn't watch the fight yesterday, so shut up. Wlad fought like Vitali yesterday, kept on throwing, moving and dominating Leapai.

I know he does, Rico. Isn't that funny. That's the excuses we will hear when Klitschko turns his lights out.

Agreed. Wladimir definitely worked on endurance and upping his workrate for Leapai.

You could think Wladimir tried a little bit too copy some of Vitali's game at his age now and economize on energy throwing armpunches and then suddenly explode with a combo, something Vitali just couldn't do anymore with all his injuries.

Truck driver or not, he defeated a guy who was supposed to be a mandatory, and rightfully took his spot. Wladimir was obviously planning to take care of Boytsov early in 2014, but since Leapai become the mandatory instead, it was reasonable to expect from him to take care of that as quickly as possible, which he did. You'd agree that still criticizing Wladimir despite all this stuff would look like something else and not a reasonable critics.
