Scott punches like a woman and has no chin.............Jennings is ranked #4 WBC, so why didn't Wilder have to fight him? How did Wilder get ranked #3 without fighting anyone in the top billion?! Was the woman he beat up ranked #3?! Whatever, how did such a ranking happen? Vlad beat Wilder from one side of the ring to the other while sparring for the Wach fight, even knocked him down with a jab.............

 

Stylistically, Leapai is all wrong for Wlad.

Wlad will need to change his style dramatically to beat Leapai. The long range bombs and clinch wont work with Leapai, it will play right into his hands. Wlad will not be able to slowly wear Leapai down by leaning on him. Instead, he will need to open up and finish Leapai of with clean crisp power shots, much like a young Wlad used to. If he waits 9-10 rounds and fights conservatively with Leapai, it is only a matter time before Leapai lands that uppercut bomb and maybe a few in close hooks. Leapai is no stranger to landing big bombs at any stage of the fight and carries his power, even when hurt and tired. The longer the fight goes the more likely that Leapai will draw Wlad in close and land some telling shots. If this one goes more than 4 rounds, Leapai will land, will hurt Wlad and will win the fight.

Of course, the class factor suggests that it is unlikely that the stylistical advantages will mean nothing and it is hard to imagine the fight going more than 3 to 4 rounds, but if it does, i am calling the upset.

Hopefully leapai will train like mad, and come into the fight in lean enough shape to make a fight of it. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Leapai. I hope he fights out of his skin and makes a fight of it, even if it is only because Wlad underestimates him.

Just watched Leapai against Vitali sparmate Travis Walker,if Wlad does not fight as though he is facing Superman , he gets him out of there inside 5 rds .Leapai has slow feet and hands, zero head movement, and very limited boxing ability.In short he is a crude cart horse this will be a painful one sided beat down, but if Wlad gets aggressive it will be a quick blow out .

To be honest, it was hard to believe that these are two professional fighters (one of whom is a number one contender to the world title) who have the benefit of 100 years of modern nutrition, modernised training methods etc. Yet someone like Primo Carnera or Jess Willard were just unskilled giants who wouldnt last two seconds. It is also hard to believe that the pioneers of our sport like Jim Corbett would not find a way around both of their modern defences. In fact, on film it is hard to believe that either of these guys would stand four rounds with Ancient Jim Jeffries who faced Jack Johnson. And it certainly makes you wonder how a Tony Ross vs Alex Leapai fight would go down.

Still, unlike newspaper reports and pier review, film can be very, very deceiving. Watching that fight, i would have to rate Mayweather a good chance against both guys.

I think for a better idea of how this one will go down, you need to youtube Armstrong v Biondi, Bradbury v the world, or just simply Cliff young (now there is a guy who is underated).

I stand by my pick, despite everything being said. I disagree that it should take Wlad 4 rounds to win this. He should win in the first round. Tyson, Foreman, Louis, Sullivan and Dempsey would have. Fitzsimmons, Langford, and most others would have considered this fight a loss if it lasted 4 rounds. Jeffries liked to wear opponents down, but we saw what he did to guys like Munroe, finnegan and Jackson when he knew they were not in his class. , Wlad should do the same if he wants to be considered a top 10 fighter. Now having said all that, if Wlad goes longer than 4 rounds, there will come a time when he is hit with some huge in close hooks. That is how and when his chin can be tested. Based on the Wach fight and others, i have some serious doubt about Wlads chin still.

How astonishing would it be if Leapai actually wins this fight and what would this do to many all time top 10 lists? I would say that Wlads legacy is on the line here.
