Well, had all his potential been fulfilled (not that he ever stood any more a chance of living up to his "White Tyson" moniker than did Chagaev) and career handled better, yes, his ceiling probably was originally quite a bit above Mitchell's...but in 2013 with his progress stunted as it was their scalps are probably now only worth about the same. :-(

No, Leapai gassed after chasing Kevin Johnson for 9 rounds and it was TKO 9.

Can't wait for the presser where Wlad likens Leapai to George Foreman or some ATG, trying to make interest for a fight that shouldn't be happening.

Wlad will compare Lepai to Rocky Balboa. Another ATG for the record.

When it is true Wlad is fighting his mandatory. Nothing wrong about it.

Like K2 doesn't have any pull with the sanctioning bodies. We're not so naive CHEF. Vitali has the WBC wrapped around his finger, and now Wlad has a nice cushy "mandatory" that will likely be less competitive than some of his sparring sessions. I'm sure Wlad lobbyed the WBO to "vote" Leapai into the mando spot.

It does seem strange that the WBO so suddenly enforce a mandatory, the first for ages. To my knowledge Eddie Chambers was Wlad's last mandatory defence of the WBO title and that was 3 years and 9 months ago. It will be likely 4 years by the time the fight actually takes place.

Why wasn't Boystov's mandatory position enforced to make a fight, Wlad was more than overdue for a mandatory defence of the WBO title. Boystov's was made mandatory after his win over Nesterenko in June, why wait several months until Leapai wins the mandatory position in a fight that was a 10 rounder and not even an eliminator?

Maybe I'm too much of a cynic but it seems all to convenient that this easy mandatory is enforced now. Wlad has huge influence as champion. The WBO own rules say a champion should face a mandatory once every 12 months unless an exception is made. So the WBO have allowed an exception for 33 consecutive months allowing Wlad not to face a mandatory when Wlad has had several voluntary defences. Why not a further exception, especially with Wlad's IBF mandatory being overdue, what has changed? Could it be that a journeymen has now somehow found his way into a mandatory position?

    Look at this clown.

Im talking world rankings , in which he was never top 10 , not the WBO rankings.
Where I come from it doesn't require 'balls' to post on the internet. You sound like a poindexter to me.

Wlad would earn more respect if he dumped the belt and fought the top 10. But boxing is just a business for k2 and milking the sport dry is their
    priority.

K2 fans will defened this fight because , just like Wlad , they dont want him in hard fights. They don't want Wlad to be at risk of another loss.

It was the same with Vitali and Haye. After he blew away Chisora , every excuse was made why Vitali shouldn't give Haye a fight. Haye doesn't deserve it they said, despite Vitali calling him out for years. What did he do to earn it they said. Then you look at his record and its a long list low ranked nobodies.

Wlad come to the point where he controls who and how he fights inside and outside of the ring.

Serious question fella. What will you do if Joey Abell beats Pulev during the weekend? I hope not something like this.

Fact is nobody beats Wlad right now but that doesn't mean he should be allowed to fight such poor opposition like Mormeck, Wach, Pianeta and now Leapai.

Roy Jones Jr got plenty of criticism when he was fighting guys like Rick Frazier and dragging up a middleweight in Otis Grant. Calzaghe got plenty of heat for facing guys like Mkrtchyan, Ashira and Salem, I was a fan of his prior to his shot run of opposition in 2004 and 2005.

Wlad as champion should be fighting decent opposition. Fury is free after Haye pulled out with a career ending injury. Chisora was deemed worthy after 14 fights, why not now, he is now a seasoned pro at world level on in good condition and on a recent good run. Solis, Helenius, Stiverne, Arreola, Perez etc all better than Leapai as an option.

    Boxrec.

Leapai was not ranked top 15 by WBO at the start of this year. He was selected by beating club fighters in 8 round fights.

They would never make Boystov fight a real top 10 fighter because he would lose and Wlad would have another competive mando on his hands.

Leapai was brought in as the fall guy so Wlad could fight Boystov. By Boystov losing just goes to show the type of level Wlad is comfortable with:patsch

He's talking about the computer rankings used by Boxrec. While it isn't perfect it's much better than the sanctioning bodies ranking system which is based on the influence of promoters and the marketability of fighters.

The IBO also use a computer based ranking system they have Boystov at 59 and Leapai at 31.
