Should this thread be on this forum?

Wlad needs to become THE World Champion first before even being considered worthy of mention in this forum...

OK boxing is dumbing down in this era, but we do not to follow suit!

I'm with Ring on this, personally, in that to me he is "the" world champion. After he was dominating, and unified world titles, his brother comes back and gets a title from a guy Wlad already beat. Since then, Wlad's beaten the undefeated WBA champion after having already beaten the undefeated WBO champion. Nah, Wlad's the champion as far as I'm concerned. Although I agree, this doesn't seem like a classic thread.

If you want to win a vacant title you surely need a fight between the two finest fighters?

We have that, sadly they are brothers.

Before Vitali came back, there was not two stand out fighters to make a vacant championship fight viable.

Not to me. I think if you're the stand out long enough yourself, you do the champ's job long enough, you're the champ if no one else is there for it. If 1 and 2 aren't going to fight, I do think 1 and 3 is reasonable. Enter Chagaev. You think about it your way, I don't care. But for me, this is a closed matter and I support the Ring on this one. Wlad has his own lineage now, far as I'm concerned. Furthermore, Chagaev was the undefeated holder of the oldest of the four belts and Vitali had not to me distinguished himself as the definitive number two by then anyway. You could've argued it was Chagaev. Vitali up to that point at his age hadn't been definitively number two to me based off of Peter and Gomez victories. That's where I'm coming from on that issue anyway.

All four belts (WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO) are splinter groups of the NBA, so all four groups history start at the same time...

I think Povetkin has a shot. He will be at his best, he has great heart, and will stick to his game plan under adversity.

However, like every other opponent, Povetkin will not get past Wlad's jab, and one he gets caught with a few right hands or counter hooks, he's going to have respect Wlad's power, size, skills, and speed.

Wlad's defense is great vs the hook, and that is Povetkin's best punch. Wlad's his foot speed and movement these days always seems to keep him at optimal range.

The fight could get interesting if Povetkin can hang in there and take it to the later rounds. In my judgement, Povetkin stamina, and heart are superior, and his chin looks to be very good. Power is solid. Hand speed is very good. Skills are decent. Defense and short arms are his main drawback. It took Povetkin a while to take this fight. He was obvisouly angling for the WBA title shot if possible. That bring us to Haye. Will Haye fight 39 year old Vitali or is he going to rip off the fans by giving Harrison a fight or, Valuev a re-match?

Not a bad match up for once. I can't see Povetkin beating him though

Wrong forum, Wlad dominates, Povetkin isn't up to much, Audley was Olympic champ to remember. What does he have to bother Klit with? Little power, not that quick, short and stumpy. Chambers was schooling Povetkin until he gassed, Povetkin is far too straight up with no head movement, it makes him such an easy target for a big man with fast hands despite his tight guard. I mean he's technically good enough, I just hope it'll be a better fight than I expect

I just hate it when people try to legitimize alphabet crap, that is all...

You are entitled to your opinion, and there is a sane argument that makes Vlad champ, I just disagree with it.

But I understand your need to find a solution to a complicated issue, after all The World's Heavyweight Champion is still the most prestigious and important in Sports...

Unfortunately, people like us will probably be having disagreements about this issue for many decades to come. They will be disagreements filled with sniping, sarcasm, patronizing, biting of lips and nails, hypertension and maybe occasionally ulcerative colitis. But, cheers.

Who needs this alphabet crap Ring Belt after soundly defeating Ring's #1 and #3 fighters in recent years, Wlad needs to fight his belt holding brother and pick up Holyfield's WBF belt to truely be recognized as undisputed. ;)
