I could see the mob killing Wlad in Russia if he won. You have to remember there is bad blood between Russians and Ukrainians. Plus Vitali campaigned in the Ukraine against the pro Russians. Would be huge, but might get violent with the Ukrainian supporters in Moscow. Have to say that i'm looking forward to this fight. Think of the times that 2 former super heavy gold medal winner have fought for the title... not many and they have always been considered classics.

 

I would say that ukrainians hate russians more than the opposite.
And not all the ukrainians . The western ones.

If people think this will be anything like the Ibragimov or Chagaev debacles they are sorely mistaken. I don't see Povetkin coming to lose. Tit for tat, Povetkin has made his competition look as poor as Klitschko has made his look. Size also is not everything if the smaller man knows how to exploit his advantages (namely foot work).

 

Of course Povetkin is not Chagaev and Ibragimov. I agree . But is he good enough to beat Wlad? I hope he will turn out to be !

 

Hopefully HBO does not pass on this one. Neither boxer is promoteed by Golden Boy, sooo hopefully Oscar's network makes an exception. Wink.. Wink...
