This content is protected What an absolute joke. Wlad should have been disqualified 10 times over. This isn't boxing. Say what you will about Joshua, Usyk or even Fury (who sometimes takes clinching to another level) but all of these guys are far more entertaining than old Wlad. If any of the top current heavyweights had Wlad's style, heavyweight boxing would be dead by now. Referees need to ensure this nosense doesn't happen. This is a disgrace to heavyweight boxing and boxing in general. Thank goodness we are not in the Klit era anymoe. This isn't about my personal bias. I have never been a Lennox Lewis fan but i rank him highly on my all time list. I will never rank a guy like Wlad anywhere near my all time top 10. With proper refereeing, he would not have had anywhere near such a long reign. Again, thank goodness we are not in this dreadful era anymore. Fury, Usyk, Joshua, Joyce, and hell even Wilder are far better to watch than this so called great champion.
I remember that fight, I watched it live, I've never seen so many clinch in any fight before, Wladimir just avoided the fight but in the end he still won...
Shameful performance by Wlad. I'll never forget the leaping octopus move. He hurt Povetkin a number of times with actual punches, showing he could have won fair and square. But of course winning fair and square meant the risk of also getting caught and hurt by Povetkin. Having said that, pre-grey-hair Wlad ruins Lewis or Joshua, brutally KOs them both, hug style or not. They would both end up like Tony Thompson, slumping into a corner once the bomb landed.
12 rounds boxing contest lasts for 36 minutes. Wlad's clinching here lasted about 2/3 of that time, I was shocked when I watched the fight. I was also shocked by the top corruption about this chicken heart p*ssy Wladimir - that's the greatest example for what I insist when I speak about him and that he had such a success just because of that, otherwise he was an athletic person, a power puncher, an intelligent man even, but way too far from what he got as a glory and titles. The I remember what Pulev said after his fight with Wladimir. Then I remember what Fury proved around the cheating duo. One of the boxing rules concerns wrestling, excessive and repetitive holding, tripping, pushing, roughing - a fighter can be point-deducted or even disqualified for. But not Wlad, he was allowed to win by applying it. This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
What if wlad fought (john) Ruiz? Would that give him a taste of his own medicine?? Btw wlad tried too hard to copy Double L's style, yes he overdid it with the clinches. Lennox was more fluid, a lot more smoother operater. I think wlad could be called the non killer. He took no risks and only closed the show with big rights whereas Lennox would try harder for the ko.
Even worse than Ali vs Frazier II. With an honest referee, Wlad would have taken a penalty point in the third round and should have boxed normally.
Povetkin stopped trying to win after tasting that left hook early on. He kept diving into Wlad’s sternum.
Klitschko should have been disqualified, that was some of the worst holding I've ever seen. One of the knockdowns was a push, and should never have been counted. Reminds me of Ward-Kessler, with Ward using deliberate headbutts to cut Kessler. Ward should have been disqualified, instead he was rewarded with a win. And somehow his illegal low blows against Kovalev netted him a TKO win. Are some referees paid off by promoters?
Exactly! Ali Frazier II immediately came to mind. Wladimir Clutchschko should have been warned and penalized. Povetkin didn't do himself any favors either the way he fought. Hideous fight
Povetkin shares some of the blame. He jumped right into Wlad time and again. He knew after he was dropped he couldn’t remain on the outside. Ugly match but if the ref doesn’t say anything it’s allowed to continue. Bad ref and ugly style matchup. To Povetkin’s credit he lasted the distance and was one of the most exciting heavyweight fighters of the last 20 years.
Also I know Russian and Eastern European fighters complain to the ref far less than other fighters, but Povetkin should of been looking and yelling at the ref by round 2 or 3. Put a little pressure on the ref to make a call. It’s clear Wlad was not going to let Povetkin do any work inside.
