Lampley brings up an interesting point.

He comments on Emanuel Steward's stellar training record in HW championship contests, and suggests that while some fact-checking and computation will need to be done to confirm that it might be the best record of all time.

Steward's only HW championship losses are Klitschko-Brewster I and Lewis-Rahman I (both avenged under Steward's guidance).

Wladimir apologiez to Larry Merchant for not producing a more spectacular win, but is glad to have achieved the dream of collecting all the belts into the family. He is disappointed in Haye being a coward and not trying to really fight him.

Merchant asks how important it was to "be the boss" after all the trash talk. Wladimir starts name-checking former champs that he admires; Schmeling, Tyson, Louis, Lewis, Holmes and Foreman and says that they all exemplify the gentlemanly class that should be a hallmark of the world champion, in contrast with Haye.

Merchant asks if he thinks Haye was scared, and WK says yes. WK was expecting more challenge but was discouraged to find that Haye was 100% defensive in his performance. He compares it to Ibragimov. He dismisses Haye's weak attempts to counter him, and indicates that aside from cautious defense Haye accomplished nothing to brag about.

He says Haye is a disgrace not only for his performance but for the way he conducted himself in the lead-up. He wanted an impressive knockout to punish him for his poor character as much as anything.

He complains about game plans like Ibragimov's and Haye's against him and said it is difficult to look exciting against them.

Merchant asks if he still has the hunger to keep going on clearing out the field.

Klitschko says now that all the belts are in the family, this is just the beginning. He is not satisfied as he felt deprived of a chance to score a spectacular KO and will be back.

Haye's chin did stand up well, that's pretty much all he can take out of the fight. His footwork was poor and he spent most of the fight off balance. Props to Klitschko for having such an effective style, but it was not a great fight to be honest.

Haye has already changed into a rugby shirt. He blames the loss on a toe injury sustained three weeks ago! :patsch

Merchant calls him out immediately, and accuses him of making an alibi. Haye dismisses the claim and says he was unable to push off his right foot to put leverage on his "Haye-maker".

Merchant asks Haye about his thoughts on Wladimir saying he fought scared. Haye says he couldn't find his range or push off and AGAIN blames his foot injury.

Haye says he "gave it the best considering circumstances, gave it 100%" and bemoans how he couldn't close the distance with every right hand because of his poor widdle tootsie.

Jones is actually defending Haye, saying "well, he DID need to be able to push off with his rear foot to put power into his signature shot.." :patsch

He does agree with Lampley that Haye should have ensured that he was coming into this opportunity 100% prepared without any built-in excuses.

Now Jones backtracks and says he wasn't impressed with either Klitschko or Haye, and starts to retread the whole "great American hope" thing. :dead

    ...what???????????????? :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Haye didn't win two rounds, let alone eight.

No, Klitschko didn't look terribly impressive but he landed more jabs than Haye threw punches.

WTF did Haye do to "win" rounds on your card??????????????? :?

    PS, I watched in Hi-Def as well...on a nice bright 50" screen. ;)

Fight was rather ****, just what I feared and to be expected. I blame both fighters, Haye for having a very limited outside game and Wlad for having zero inside game.

I am not impressed with Vlad. It shows again how his size is what helps him and not his skills. Haye was able to hang in there and go the distance being a former cruiserweight. If Haye were the taller and heavier guy he would have stopped Vlad in 2 or 3. The Klitschkos have the advantage with size. That is what makes them successful. The one thing you can give them credit for is fighting well with that big size.

Actually I am more impressed with Haye than Vlad. I thought he would get stopped early. He needs to work on a few more things and he will get better.
