Wladimir Klitschko vs. David Haye

Haye will do well in the HW but Wlad is just too big for him. Wlad is like Haye but taller and stronger.

WALD would probably win easily right now but give Haye a chance, he's got 1 horrible loss on his record admittedly but won by brutal KO the other night while weight-drained to ****....if he carries his speed up to heavyweight as well as his power then there's no reason why he can't compete with anyone, the division is garbage.

He will need to make adjustments as has been mentioned though, carrying his left hand that low against someone with a hard right hand and longer reach would be suicide. I suspect he wouldn't fight the same way against WALD.

Right now I'd say WALD by early KO, but with a few tune ups and a couple of years carrying the weight Haye has as much chance as anyone of cracking WALDS egg.

 

You see everyone is assuming that Wlad has the much longer reach, being 6'7" and so on, however...

Wlad's reach is 81"

Let's compare with Wlad's last five opponents, against whom he has proved to us that he is today's no. 1 heavy:

Lamon Brewster's reach 77"
Ray Austin's reach 80" (long enough, but he's just nowhere near good enough)
Calvin Brock's reach 77"
Chris Byrd's reach 74"
Samuel Peter's reach 77"

Now let's compare against David Haye:

Wlad's reach 81"
Haye's reach 80.5"

So Wlad has all of 0.5" advantage in wingspan. Given his very broad shoulders, Haye could even have the longer arms, and they certainly do look long.

I hesitated, but I think I would narrowly pick Haye in this fight, although he'd have to train like a demon. There's no reason why Haye has to eat Wlad's jabs, especially if he uses his own. He has hell of speed, way more than any of Wlad's recent opponents (dunno about Chris Byrd), and I think he could score well on Wlad with that. Later on, his uppercuts, straight rights, and hooks could beat down Wlad as he tired. Haye has corrected the stamina issue after the Thomson fight, and I think at this point he'd be better down the stretch. Wlad has a lot more to carry around in any case!

So I think Haye could take it, although I reiterate that a lot of it would have to be done in training, because no one has figured out this version of Wlad, and I don't think Haye has ever had to work out someone similar.

To be realistic, would be one hell of a fight, but Haye should (and will) spend more time at heavy before it could come off, especially to get practise hitting upwards against the likes of Lance Whittaker (for a soft touch) and Jameel McCline (for comparisons with Sam Peter as the darling puncher) or Nikolay Valuev (not sure Haye could dent the chin there...). There are great fights to come!

 

Haye never gets around Wlad's jab, probably lands about 25% of his punches/10% power punches. It would be Wlad by incredible domination, worse than Brewster2, more like Austin but probably with a more devastating KO. Rd.3 I would say. And one last thing, I keep hearing people say that Hay was never meant to be a Cruiser and he is a natural HW, if this is true then why the **** has he been at Cruiser all this time?

 

Like your avatar, you are living in the past. What is your reasoning for Haye defeating a superheavyweight, much less Wlad?:nut
Please list your reasons. Povetkin/ Haye would put this to rest. I think Povetkin outworks him for a UD at least, so the fight with Wlad would never materialize.

 

It's easier for Wlad to punch down than Haye punch up, so the reach disparity looms even larger.
Good luck, Haye gets clocked by round 5, but "hope springs eternal" for the likes of you.

I agree, it's hope, and I could change my mind to pick either of them.

You make a good point that it may be easier for Wlad to punch down than up, he's certainly more used to it! But I don't think a 0.5" reach disparity looms large!

Wlad might win, and might KO him, but if he did, then I don't think it'd be so early like you expect. This would be a competitive fight, whoever wins, and it will get more so as Haye gets the experience he needs against more heavies.
