I can’t seem to convince myself to ignore Wlads proven power and finely tuned straight right hand. A right hand that reminds me of some of those awesome lasers that SRR would shoot, Hearns would uncoil and today only Mikey Garcia, Kovalev possess. Yes even Wilder when delivered with precision has an aesthetically pleasing delivery believe it or not. Of course it’s not all about having a pretty right hand ideally speaking even the unorthodox looking right hands prove their worth 10 fold when they reap the results that Wilder has produced even with grazing telegraphed windmills. That said this version of Wilder certainly has a shot versus Wlad at any stage in his career and contrary to popular belief a prime Wlad was less confident in himself and his own personal ability to handle adversity in the ring. I believe Wilder will likely never develop the technical fundamentals that Wlad acquired over his career but unlike Wlad, Wilder seems to only show composure and reacts with unbridled intensity when faced with adversity. This is pure nature versus nature and Wilder would have the “in the trenches” persona advantage in this now mythical intragenerational matchup
The same can be said about Floyd it’s a never ending vicious cycle. I suggest you stop taking it personally and don’t be so quick to make such a blanketed statement. Some of the criticisms are quite constructive and valid. Still it shouldn’t and doesn’t take away from Wlads accomplishments.
before, you say. what about after... oh right he didnt rematch him for an after. says it all, he got beat down by a retired neverman with superior ability AGAIN.
Yes agreed however I see similarities within how educated and purposeful the right hand is when thrown by the aforementioned. Wlad and the lighter guys use it with the same intent while other guys with very effective right hands tend to throw it as part of a combo. It’s difficult to explain really not many fighters use the right as a range finder, a main attack and a probing jab, Wlad did that Mikey Garcia does that and just a handful of others throughout history.
Axel Shultz beat Moorer and Foreman comfortably. Then he ran into Wladimir Klitschko. Shultz<<<<<<Douglas/McCall/Rahman/Williams/Bowe/Ruiz etc etc etc. Fighters lose to lesser fighters. Lewis was blasted out like a bum by a sparring partner and a guy who was twice stomped by Maskaev, another B level titilst. Tyson was KTFO by a journeyman brick mason who also happens to have been a journeyman fighter. He also was beaten into submission by a lesser but at least solid Danny Williams. Ali was beaten up by a bum. Even worse though, the bum had only 6 fights. George Foreman is an ATG..... BUT..... He was the epitome of the plodding low talent banger first time around. Larry Holmes lost back to back vs a glass jawed LHW.
Wilder is of course dangerous with his power but I pick Wlad here. Wlad will fight cautious (boring) with a lot of jabbing, holding, and good movement, putting him in the right positions to land and tougher for Wilder to land clean. Eventually Wlad would let the right hand go and stop Wilder, or if Wilder plays it over cautious like Haye, wlad wins a boring wide UD.
Wlad has my utmost respect and he earned my respect. Wilder is waiting his turn. I won’t judge them until Wider is retired.
u r a nutjob, he lost to them both. do losses mean wins everytime that a klischko is involved, even tangentially? I thought that was just with tko6.
Well, I remember when Wlad was in negotiations with Lewis before LL was forced to pursebid with Kirk Johnson. Vitali was after Tyson before Danny Williams. I'd call Wlad Lewis and Vitali Tyson both mega fights. Sanders and Williams spoiled.
Shultz beat Moorer 7/5 and Foreman 9/3. Score the fights yourself. I have been Big George biggest fan since I was a kid. I couldn't believe he got that gift.
Schulz looked good as most in the 90s till he ran into WK. Career over. And that was not the polished WK that Steward created.
To be fair Vitali probably pointed out that he didn't want to knock out his little brother and put some pressure on to make sure he wasn't ranked for that reason.
His robbery losses to Foreman and Moorer allow haters to put him in with the Botha, Golota, Tua, Ruddock level. But if given his just dues, he's arguably top 5 of the best 90s HWs. I think Shultz and Morrison would have been a great fight. Definitely one to remember.
isee that you are still using some near 50 year old as your main argument, despite being told. and arguing losses are evidence of being better. good luck with that, I'll leave you to arguing black is white n white is black, with yourself. Its not my concern.
