Who wins? These were the youngest most dangerous punchers in the division in 1999. Wladimir back then had some serious aggresion, and really threw some mean combinations. He had the clear edge in technique over Ike. Ike had a high workrate, top power in both fists, and was immensely strong. This would have been a great slugfest How would this version of Wlad do?
yea this version of wlad was mean,he just went there trying to bomb out everyone. wlad has every advantage over ike except chin and stamina, and if he doesn't stop ike in mid rounds, ike will stop him late, imo. and the question is how would ike react if the fight goes in the way i think it would go.wlad landing big punches on ike, while ike missing his shots??wlad is no byrd,he's going to land frequently hard shots on ike.can ike take the punishment and not quit or fell apart mentally while being dominated?if he can do that,he has a good chance stoping wlad late
Wlad would outbox Ibeaubuchi early but Ike would work the body and pressure Wlad, the fight would turn more into an inside fight as it progressed and Ibeaubuchi then catches up to Wlad and KO's him.
I think Wlad would box and use his jab, counter-punching when necessary. A bit like Chris Byrd. In fact, it would be a lot like Byrd-Ibeauchi, except without the first four rounds.
Tua landed clean only in 11th and almost koed him. Also ike was protecting his chin from left hook all night, how he will deal with straight right? And wlad will land for SUUUUREE.
yea ike protected his chin very good from that left hook with his right glove. tua hit him with some bombs, but not very often and not in combinations. question is how is ike gonna react when he gets constantly nailed flush with stiff jabs and big right hands and left hooks?
Don't agree that Wlad had a clear edge in tech then ('99) or ever. IKE by KO - against ANY version of Wlad.
Tua hit Ike cleanly once and had him on ***** street. Wlad has at least as much power, is more accurate, has better timing and well, is better in everything. there´s a class difference between Wlad and those two. Ike has a chance because this isn´t prime Wlad but still it isn´t a big one. Wlad would hit him with everything from round 1 on. I don´t think Ike would be able to take it. Aside from that I´m not high on Tua or Ike. They gave us a wonderful, great fight but outside of that neither one ever achieved something. Overrated, both of them. And big time.
I really don't know if we saw enough of Ike to make an accurate conclusion as to what he'd do against a true world class man like Wlad.. Of course, in 1999, Klitschko was still very much a work in progress and showed us that he could be vulnerable with his loss to Purity in 1998, then again later against Sanders in 2003. I suppose if Ike could weather the strom early and wear down Wlad, he might have stopped him late, but again, this is a green Klitschko that I'm talking about and not the current heavyweight champion...
I don't know how I see that version of Wlad doing, I think he could lose. In comparison to today's version who I feel would beat Ike of '99, he wasn't as composed and assured in defending himself, he didn't establish the range quite as well and took more risks, he was more likely to get caught and I think Ike may have got him out of there.
