    Prime vs prime

12 round fight with modern gloves, rules & referees.

Would big Wlad jab away for 12 rounds & win an easy decision?

Would Dempsey win by KO, felling another giant?

    Who ya got & why?

Jack Dempsey vs. Jess Willard for the Heavyweight Championship of the World

On the Fourth of July, 1919, Jack Dempsey met Jess Willard for the Heavyweight Championship of the World in Toledo, Ohio. Willard weighed in at 245 pounds and stood 6 feet 6 1/2 inches tall. Dempsey was 6 feet 1 inch and weighed 187 pounds. However, from the opening bell, Dempsey pounced on Willard like a raging storm. He pummeled the champion mercilessly, raining hooks, uppercuts, and straight rights to the body and head.

Willard was knocked down seven times in the first round, and because of the rules at the time, Dempsey could stand over him to smash him down again once Willard's knees were off the canvas. Dempsey flattened the champion's nose, shattered his jaw in seven places, cracked his cheekbone, knocked out four front teeth, broke his ribs, and administered a partial hearing loss to the courageous giant. Willard withstood this punishment for 3 full rounds and wanted to go in for the 4th, but his corner threw in the towel to save his life.

No 187 pounder has a chance against Wlad, period.

Dempsey had loaded gloves in that fight, allegedly.

Dempsey would cut him down like a tree. If Wlad had a good chin or didn't wilt under pressure, I would definitely favor Wlad. Though Wlad has had alot of trouble against aggressive shorter heavyweights in the past (Brewster, Peter), both of which are not in the same league as Dempsey. I would say Dempsey knocks him out within a round or two.

It's difficult to say for sure, but I'd pick Dempsey to find Wlad's chin and knock him out.

    Vitali would destroy Dempsey though.

If Dempsey didn't land a ko punch withing the first 5 or so rounds, there's no way he'll win.

Klitschko is too big, it's not really a fair fight imo (if its the 190lb version of Dempsey).

Klitschko! And I am actually suprised that Klitschko is leading the poll. A lot of people think because guys like Demsey, Louis, Marciano, etc. are legends, that no one of today could beat them. Either Klitschko would beat Dempsey, Louis or Marciano, but not Ali, in my opinion. A prime Lennox Lewis would be a TALL order for the Klitschko's as well.

Williard is not even comparable to the Klitscho's. NO COMPARISON!!!! Williard had crazy stamina in his prime, but he was not a very skilled big man. The big men of recent times, like Lewis and the Klitschko's are some of the most skilled in boxing history.

considering that more of you voted for David Haye against Dempsey in another poll, this could be a joke as well
