I will definitely take any version of Tyson prior 1998 over Wlad.

However, this isn't to deny the adage "anything can happen in boxing".

Especially given Wlad's talents (which are similar to Douglas). So yes, Wlad CAN pull a Buster Douglas (and likewise Mike Tyson CAN dismantle Wlad under 30 seconds). The question is what is the probability?

Tyson IMO has a much better track record (I'll only consider up to his second hiatus in 199 8. He is more accomplished and he is more proven.

The odds of Wlad pulling a Buster Douglas are indeed low.

Beating Tokyo Tyson is a long nights of work where you have to be 100% sharp and throwing al kinds of well timed punches. Tokyo Tyson is NOT there for someone to passively beat by just stepping into the ring and "standing up to him". You have to ACTIVELY BEAT HIM. Can Wlad do it?

His track record or achievments don't seem to indicate (yes the same could be said for Douglas). Tyson is the obvious and sensible choice for the PROBABILITY of who will win (as he was against Douglas).

I really think that a much better question would have been Tokyo Tyson against Vitali. I'd still pick Tyson because Vitali just doesn't have the traits that Wlad or Douglas did. Tyson - Vitali would be more of a slugfest (despite Vitali being a decent boxer) and that works into Tyson's favor.

Douglas did NOT outslug Tyson (or at least that is misleading). He OUTBOXED Tyson. He didn't BRAWL. Vitali would BRAWL. Wlad may not keep his composure like Douglas did when Douglas got tagged in the Tyson fight, not just round 8. Don't go into the ring with Tyson not expecting to take a few good shots to win

Yeah, Russ I have been kind of busy because I got transferred in my job to another part of the country and have to move soon. It kinda sucks because I live about 10 min from the beach and I love it in the summer. There is no beach where I'm going. Oh well.

    Tyson would lose.

If Wlad sticks that jab in his face all night, drops the occasional right hand, and manages to tie Tyson up inside, I can't see him losing.
Once Tyson got frustrated, he no longer wanted to be in there...and no matter how much of a threat his power was, Wlad would not let him land. He'd keep the fight at long range and play it safe.

    Wlad easy UD.

I am not the biggest Tyson supporter (understatement) around. If this was the Tyson of say the lewis fight, I could easily see Klit working the jab and tying him up on every close encounter. However i don't see Wlad having the necesary speed both with the jab and even the foot work that Buster displayed on this night. That would be two necesary (IMO) things for Wlad to overcome...I can give Wlad an outside shot tops...Tyson by stoppage (my guess is 6)

i'm not exactly the biggest tyson supporter either so let's have a look at your post...

like the way he did against corrie sanders, lamon brewster, and even samuel peter? the point is - how can you be so SURE? you can't. track record doesn't indicate. it is possible but not probable against a top puncher like tyson.

douglas had a long nights of hard, focused work before winning. holyfield had to take some monster shots and work for 11 rounds before getting the win. wlad has STRUGGLED awfully with too many mediocre fighters and now he is supposed to have an EASY UD against a top 20 fighter? sounds illogical.
