Would Ringo troube Wlad with his wild, schlepping sort of style and strength, or would WK have too much on the ball for Oscar? 15 rounds of course for the title.
Of course Oscar would win. He was born in 1942 and as short, stubby, underweight heavy made a mark in the era that is proclaimed the Greatest Ever for Heavyweights... over and over again... by the same demographic... who thankfully has only another 30 or 40 years left to keep up this ranting.
I think Vlad would stop him but not after some awkward moments, Oscar was a rhythm breaker and threw a lot of unorthodox punches. I think Vlad's jab and movement keeps Oscar at bay until the 7-8th rd and Vlad starts to let the right come home hard, also Oscar was open to the hook...I think a tired Oscar get hurt and the RSF
The way Bonavena survied 15 rounds with Frazier both times, especially in the '68 rematch, was to plant his elbows on his gut and cover his face with his gloves..with his back to the ropes..sort of an early, crude version of the rope-a-dope.....his forearms were so dense with muscle that Frazier's punches just bounced off and then he'd push Joe off and go to the center of the ring...not a way to collect points, but he was thick, rugged and blocky enough for this to work. He gave Ali fits at times and occasionally troubled him with his complete lack of rhythm and unpredictable lunges and swings. He'd probably do a bit of both vs Wlad, and would rival the champ with his strength at times..and keep WK from being able to draw a bead on him as easily as other opponents he's defended against. Wlad would have a field day though in landing the jab and outmaneouvering Oscar in general, and Ringo might just make it to the final bell in a very ugly fight...and I'm sure that he would have tagged Wlad at times with a few heavy shots...enough to get the big guy's respect...like I said, an ugly, awkward fight.
Another reason this fight may have stunk was that unlike Ali, Wlad would have instilled some respect in Oscar..respect for Wlad's power, and it would have been a more or less cautious fight from Oscar..uncharacteristically cautious for Ringo..and I really don't think their respective styles would have meshed that well for an esthetically pleasing night of boxing.
Yeah, I know Mcvey...I just didn't feel like editing it...I was switching horses in mid-stream when I was typing that..
