Wladimir 'Dr Steelhammer' Klitschko is one of the greatest fighters in the last 80 years whether you like him or not (I'm definitely not a fan, but the facts don't lie), having 23 successful title defenses. As dominant as a champion he was for 11 years, he wasn't invincible. Klitschko often struggled or came up short against hard punchers - such as Purity, Sanders, Brewster & AJ (although he was way past it in the AJ & still managed to put up a good fight). He also struggled to beat limited power-puncher Samuel Peter - who dropped him 3x.
    How does Wladimir fare against
    Dempsey
    Baer
    Louis
    Marciano
    Liston
    Frazier
    Foreman
    Lyle
    Shavers
    Cooney
    Tyson
    Bruno
    Smith
    Ruddock
    Bowe
    Lewis
    Mercer
    Morrison
    McCall
    Ike
    Tua
    Golota
    Briggs
    Wilder
    Ortiz
    Whyte

He should have fought Briggs. it would gave made for a better fight than the Fury debacle. and his refusal to fight Beiggs after all the calling out Briggs did only makes him look scared

I'd favor Wlad heavily against guys like Ruddock, Morrison, Briggs, Marciano, Bruno, Smith, Whyte, Ortiz, McCall, Mercer, Tua, Golota, Cooney, Dempsey, Wilder

I'd slightly favor him against Ibeabuchi, Lyle and Frazier

Against other guys I think there are either 50/50 fights or Wlad would be an underdog

Of the 26 fighters listed I think he'd drop about 10

Wasnt Briggs pretty washed out when he was calling out Wlad? I was interested but he didn't exactly earn the fight

I would favor prime Wlad over all of them individually but line up 8 of them and he'd find a way to lose to one.

I'm sorry but this sounds borderline delusional.
Are you one of the rare people grinding this axe on another thread?
Briggs was never as good as Klitchko & was more past his prime.
He had done *nothing* of substance for years.

There was no way Briggs deserved any title shot-for years.
Since Briggs was not a credible challenger for many years, & because Klitchko looked bemused, not afraid...

It is a bizarre opinion that Klitchko not acquiescing to an at best amusing desperate series of ploys to get a big payday showed he had any fear of Briggs.

As much as i like Rocky, he would find it hard to connect to Wlad's chin. He does not have the Tyson like speed. Wlad would win a boring decision here. Ditto with Frazier.

Tyson would maul Wlad. Sorry but no version of Wlad would be able to keep up with Tyson. Too much speed, power, and once Tyson lands a big combination, its good night.

Foreman would walk through him faster than Sanders did. Ditto with Liston.

I would also favour Louis and Lewis although Wlad has a punchers chance.

    Those are the ATG's.

I see Wlad beating the majority of non-ATG's but he is bound to lose to a big puncher here and there. I give Ike, Lyle and Mercer the best chance here.

I think the better question is: how much is Wlad allowed to get away with by the ref? Can he clinch excessively? Can he excessively lean on his opponents? I feel some of the 60's and 70's referees would have been more strict. The modern referees allowed Wlad to get away with horrendously excessive clinching tactics. How the referee enforces the rules may impact some of these matches.

Agree with this. If he is penalised for holding he's going to find it much harder.
Kinda disagree here. Ali was notorious for clinching himself. I don't remember him being penalised much.

Ali didn't rely on clinching at his best.

Ali was grabbing onto Frazier too much early in Manila and the referee warned him not to do it. He didn't do it after that.

Wlad made a career out of excessive over the top clinching and leaning. He basically destroyed all excitement from the heavyweight division. It was extremely poor sportsmanship. The referees allowed him to continously get away with it. If he was disqualified once or twice, he would have learned his lesson. It was just poor refereeing throughout his reign.

Wlad relied on it all thru his best years. Ali only brought it out second career.
