Thompson's hands don't look too, too fast to me. He seems slower than Ibragimov and Byrd. He's definitely slower than Corrie Sanders.

Truth be told, I think Vlad has an edge in hand speed over Thompson.

Having seen Krasniqi vs. Thompson..it seems like Krasniqi, though passed it, was able to land on Thompson before he quit. Thompson's defense looks weak, he also seems to lack both foot and hand speed for a top heavy.

I totally disagree with you. His hard punches are fast AND short.

He shows ability in getting out of range, and he's okay at getting back in (at the level he's fought at). So he might be "flat-footed" but that deosn't contradict what i've said in any way.

To make it easier for you - if Klitschko fights Thompson like he fought Iggy - in his last fight - he will not stop Thompson. Hope this helps.

You guys need to look again. Look at his short punches, hook and short right and especially his shorter punches to the body. He's faster. His hands are a shade faster.

Thompson by ko in round 2. Wlad just can't handle big southpaws.

:yep if u werent such a good poster id think u were off your meds. watch wlad's 1-2 and tell me he doesnt have superb handspeed. Tommy Brooks said his hands were as fast as tyson's ffs. Thompson throws arm punches and and looping shots from what ive seen.

check it out...other great examples include his second round ko of austin with the left, round 5 kd of byrd in their rematch, round 7 ko of brock...best handspeed of any hw today hands down

thompson gets in close and does a lot of shoeshine activity. his punches lack snap. he overwhelms people with workrate. wlad will completely negate his offense with his foot movement. watch and learn :yep

those who feel thompson has superior handspeed need to post some evidence otherwise u have no leg to stand on

Random Derrick post before a Wlad fight with the same prediction. Classic!

    He doesn't have superb handspeed.

This is a nice one two. But that is a little deceptive. FIre the jab out and bring the right hand over the top is something I can do very very quickly. These two punches work for Wlad - we all know this - but Thompson - and i'm beginning to wonder if Wlad is fighting the Thompson i'm familiar with the way people are talking - Thompson is a decent combination puncher, which Wlad hasn't shown of late.

Wlad has faster hands, than, say, Sonny Liston, but slower hands (in terms of launch to detonation) than guys like Joe Louis. If you want to talk one two, check the left hook, right hand that Lewis drops Raham with - Lewis isn't known for extraordinary speed, but this power-punch combination is quicker than the one-two's you have shown here.

Fastest heavyweight currently? No way. Not even the fastest hands in this fight.

Can I ask what your prediction was for the Ibragimov fight?

This is pretty much the way I see it. If Thompson causes Wlad any problems it will be because he manages to drift out of range and introduce a short flurry if Wlad steps to him. But the real problem is the Thompson jab, which is good, but not as good as Wlad's - that always sets alar bells ringing when a fighters greatest attribute is overhauled by the opponent.

Thompson paws a lot. That could get him hurt here.

McGrain, I agree that Thompson is grossly underrated, but wholeheartedly disagree on your assessment of Wlad's hand speed. He sticks his jab in at will at a blazing speed. The lack of uppercut is his only offensive weakness.
