Fury most notable wins 1. Wlad 2. Whyte 3. Chisora x 2 4. Wilder x 3 Klitschko 1. Povetkin 2. Haye 3. Byrd 4. Pulev 5. Chagaev 6. Brewster Fury is the is only one of the two with win a over an ATG (Wlad himself) but Wlad has more depth in quality. It close between the two. If Fury was to come out retirement again to either beat Usyk or AJ, then his would better of the two records in my opinion.
Fury scraped past a version of Wlad that could not pull the trigger. Prime for prime Fury doesn't win more than 50%.
I really like Fury, he has the physical and a pretty good resumé. Problem is his career was too shallow and he clearly ducked Wlad on the rematch. HW boxing is different in that a single punch can change everything and to keep it for a long time is extremely difficult. Wlad had a loooong reign
At this moment, Fury is the better fighter, but Wlad Klitschko is greater. Fury needs to fight more to catch up to Wlad. Ask this question again after Fury defends his title about 5 or 6 more times.
Wow, I forget that Fury lost his belts and the first fight against Wilder was for Deontay's strap. Thank you for the correction.
A few things to consider. Fury's career is much shorter (if he retires soon) when you take into account his AWOL years and Covid. So lining up the defences in comparison is not exactly fair on Fury. Wlad fought until 40 or so. A lot are pretty rubbish defences too, so who cares. Do people really care about Thompson, Wach, Pianeta, Jennings, the Samoan guy and such, because if Fury fought them nobody would. Wlad abused the A-side politics and contracts once he got into that position. Wlad's career has some question marks because of this. For instance, Brewster was rematched after his eye was gone. The Povetkin fight. Dodgy gamesmanship with the Haye and Fury fights attempted and who knows what else over the years. Fury has never been in that position unless you count McDerm I which was a minor form of it perhaps and not under direct control of Fury anyway. Although Wlad has a lot of top names, look how small they are. Basically Haye, Chambers, Povetkin, Byrd, Chagaev, Sultan were all cruiser size or smaller, but because of their ability, fighting at HW in the SHW era. Wlad's grab tactics were cheating and got really inexcusable at a point. **** To Wlad's credit, he has a longer list of prestigious opponents, more KO's, longer and more consistent career. To Fury's credit, he has the wins over fast and dangerous SHWs his size or close, in Wlad and Wilder. Wlad doesn't have the equivalent. Fury so far not KO'd, unlike Wlad four times. Fury beat Wlad in the actual fight.
Are we talking about 2015 Tyson or post-300lb-physical prison 2020's Tyson. Imagine if we had seen him in his prime!
Imagine picking WLAD LOL After he knocks out Usyk then I never want to see these threads ever again. Fury is 50 times the fighter Wlad is. You can't even make the claim that Wlad has a better resume...just held a plastic belt for longer which is worthless.
My previous post was tongue in cheek, but I'm not so sure, he was pretty spectacular from 2014-2015. He seemed to really start to put it all together after the near slip-up against Cunningham. Both versions are up there, but I think 2015 edges it on the cards. His style completely disarmed Kronk Wlad.
Wlad, Fury would surpass him if he beats Usyk, which I doubt he will and I doubt he will take the fight.
