maybe the fight can actually get made now that Valuev is strapless.

 

Any good fast heavyweight can box valuev to UD.

 

Not as easy for Wlad as it sounds. Principly because he relies so much on reach advantage and range, both of which work against him in this fight.

Chageav & Haye have provided the only blueprints to beating Valuev thus far. That be to fight on the outside and use far superior foot speed, upper body movement and hand speed, or to close the gap with good footwork, constant upper body movement again and out land him on the inside.

Sounds simple enough and he sounds entirely beatable Valuev - which he is - but which of those strategies has Wlad employed successfully in any fighter? Neither, because he hasn't had to admittedly, but that leaves him under-prepared in this fight and disadvantaged in a key aspect.

If Wlad is to win, it would take a real classy performance and he'd have to show an extra dimensional to his game that we thus far haven't really seen. Could he do just that? Most probably.

Wlad beats every single heavyweight today.

 

Probably wouldn't be as easy as people think, Wlad has never in his entire career encountered anybody bigger than him, and to that extent. He's not the most flexible in terms of being able to duck and pivot like Haye.

He'd have to fight a bit different to usual, it would probably be a hit and run job just as Haye and Chagaev did it because its the only logical way.

 

I agree with most of your points but i see wlad schooling valuev with his jab to a lopsided ud, funny since haye hurt valuev everyone seems to think he can be knocked out :rofl so easily.

i got wlad winning 120-108 in an absolute schooling.

 

beat me to it......people shouldn't assume just cuzz Wlad is the better fighter, or since Haye and Chagaev did it that he would win too, and win ez at that

his best assets would not be his assets in this fight, if Wlad somehow wins, it wouldn't be the least bit easy

he'd have to drastically improve his footwork between camps, cause that backing straight up and using his jab to catch fighters coming in, would not work here and would likely get him KO'd

but i'm sure that Manny could come up with a proper gameplan for Wlad to take him to victory, so i'll take him by SD

Wrong. The 40 year old Larry Donald, who relies on the jab and range control and is not in inside fighter looked better against Valuev than Holyfield, who faded somehwat in the second half of the fight. Wlad does everything Donald does, only better.

If Wlad was to fight Valuev, he would of course train stylistically for that fight. He is a very good all - around athlete who was groomed in the Sowjet system that tought gymnastics and general athletic skills to their fighters. You don't think he could develop some basic new movements?

The old styles make fights - axiom is only relevant if there is a somewhat comparable level of skill and athleticism.

 

True, but Wlad is a much more schooled Heavyweight than both Haye and Chagaev. Him and Emanuel Stuwart are like oranges and grape fruits.

 

Many people assume Wlad has won his previous fights because he's big. Wrong.

Yes, his size did help him a lot, but the main reason he won is because he's technically well schooled, has top end power, fast hands and is just very athletic all-round. When he fought boxers his own size, i.e. McCline, Austin and Thompson, he won easily, despite not having a size advantage. That tells you size is just one of many advantages he has over his opponents.


Valuev may have size on his side, but that's about all. I think Wlad will land that right hand over and over until something gives, and that's Nicolai's legs.

 

Read all of my post in future. I didn't say he couldn't do it, I just said that it would take something that we haven't seen from him before, and in that aspect it would be more difficult than imagined because he'd have to adapt his style.
