That's how I see it too. But, I'm not sure if Wlad can adapt to being the smaller man. Aside form his brother, which won't happen, this is the only current fight where I'd pick against Wlad. I give a slight edge to Valuev by a stoppage.
Valuev is too slow. Wlad would establish the Jab round after round. Valuev did not know, where all the punches comes from. Wlad by late stoppage. Valuev has no chance against a skilled boxer like Wlad who can move and jabbing at the same time.
Wlad jabs Valuev's eyball out of his face en route to a boring decision in a fight that most fans pray never gets made.....
Wlad is not a mover jabber like Larry Holmes. Wlad is a, "I'm really tall and any time you come near me I will jab you away" type of jabber. That will work great against most people, unless you are the smaller man. For this fight he'd have to become a mover jabber. It's very possible that he can do it, but we have not seen him do it yet.
Not a bad post but Wlad's footwork is far better than Haye's Valuev's or Chagaev's. Upper body & head movement? That's debateable.
Ray Austin was bigger than Wladimir & Jamell Mcline was around the same height & he weighed more. Tony Thompson too.
I'd recommend you the Wladimir vs. Thompson and McCline fights, both of them having the reach advantage, which really matters, not height. Watch how he dealt with those guys. Everything Valuev does Wladimir does 10 times better, faster, far more accurate, far more powerful and a lot busier. When styles are similar that much but there's such a gap in talent and athleticism, the fight usually ends in a knockout. Niko was rocked before Haye and it's clear he can be stunned. Wladimir has the same speed and power Haye does but he's much busier and more accurate. Valuev is too slow and too open for everything and Wlad is big enough not to be pushed back by ineffective, pushing jabs. No need of running around if you can stick the jab and right hands in his face all night and see everything coming. Wlad by late ref stoppage, without a knockdown.
Wlad just out-boxes him to an easy UD win. The old Wlad (pre Sanders) knocks him out... or gasses out trying, and probably gets stopped similar to the Purity fight.
Valuev by blowout as he's taller, and has a far better chin. Everyone who posts on these boards knows that these 2 attributes are the deciding factor in 99.9% of fights, and in the exceptions the fighter either got robbed, gassed out or won the event thus rendering the boxing match meaningless.
i wonder how this would have looked before the haye fight. i'm pretty sure that the number of people picking a wlad ko would be alot less. just because haye had valuev rocked momentarily doesn't automatically mean wlad would do so, nor does it mean that he will take risks in going for the knockout, because he rarely does that anymore; even against guy's that are smaller than him. anyway wlad on points.
I can't dispute anything you are saying. Wlad is a very gifted athlete. I will point out that Thompson is complete rubbish, and McCline hates to win. And, they are not really much bigger than Wlad. They are of about equal size, and of significantly less talent. Valuev is a freaking wall. He's not good, but he's huge. My REAL concern is the intimidation factor. Wlad is not an overly brave guy. And this is an instance where he needs to ATTACK! I think the best way for Wlad to beat Valuev is to just attack him. The way Lennox Lewis would, but Wlad is not that rambunctious. One important thing, now that Wlad has saw how Haye was able to rock Valuev, I think any apprehension he had will be gone. This fight might actually get made thanks to that punch buy Haye.
Alright, quit with the Wladimir fights scared bull**** already. If that were true he wouldn't need to fight at all. He's earned plenty of money by now & he does this because he enjoys it. He's said that very line in more than one interview. You over simplify the situtation entirely.
valuev will decision or ko klitschko. klitschko will be petrified of valuev. he will also be in range of valuev's jab. valuev will outwork and corner an intimidated klitschko, who does not have the footspeed, handspeed, elusiveness, or athletic ability of Haye. He has no head movement, backs straight up, and cannot duck or twist/contort his body to slip punches like an injured Haye was able to do against Valuev.
