good list. - but this is exactly why you can't possibly consider Wlad an ATG. Tyson has a better resume.
Consistency and longevity have to play their part as well. Wlad will go down as an ATG on those criteria alone, though the fact that he beat such a large number of top contenders so dominantly will play their part.
Then there's that pesky part about his brother facing a few opponents Wlad didn't want to face. Yes, Wlad's longetivity is admirable, also the fact that he's always in top shape and takes the sport very seriously. - but ATG? c'mon, be serious. He doesn't even have an inside game.
How is his resume better? His best win is 40 something Holmes who was retired for 2 years before the fight. Also, Tyson was KOed in his prime by a bum, and later in his career lost to a lot of bums again and again. Not to mention, Tyson lost every time he stepped up. Holyfield, Lewis all beat him with ease.
If you're going to call Douglas a bum then so is Corrie Sanders. Both were in reality good natural talents who could never quite get it together except for one night.
I wouldn't say it was entertaining but it was very tense to watch at the time, same as the Valuev fight. Haye just seems to bring a high level tension to his fights, with his speed and knockout power.
True. There have been many subpar eras in the heavyweight division, or rather I should say that there have been very few standout eras. You do the best with what you have, and Wlad's performed about as well as you could hope a champion could perform, consistently taking on top ten fighters (cept for last year), consistently stopping them or shutting them out, consistently fighting and winning. He's very similar to Louis and Holmes in that regard.
With a list of murderous ATG bombers with unlimited stamina like that no wonder Wlad is a Head to Head winner almost everytime... :rofl
