Impressive but it's not all that out of this world when you look at his opposition. What the lies of Pacquiao and Mayweather have done is more impressive imo. I don't really care much about the role model stuff but Wlad seems like a likeable and respectable enough guy (assuming he's been PED free).

    I can't envisage it.

He truly deserves respect for what he's achieved.

But he's never beaten a true ATG fighter.

And he lost three times in his 20's, to fighters who weren't great.

Manny has made him ultra cautious from 2004.

Again, his ten years of dominance deserves respect.

But look at who he's fought from 2004-2014.

I'm assuming you think that his prime is within that time period?

I don't think that the Wlad that we've seen from the last ten years, would have beaten all of those guys mentioned.

Obviously, you'd be looking at both guys in their prime.

You wouldn't put the versions of Wlad who lost to Sanders and Brewster into a fantasy fight would you?

Ali at his absolute peak in 1967, would have caused Wlad a variety of problems with his movement.

Ali tended to have bigger issues with smaller, fast guys.

    It's all about the styles.

    Styles make fights.

Cooper and Jones gave a young, brash Clay something to think about.

Read better i say compare to Klitschko. They often put their guard down. Klitschko is not Foreman, to throw widl punches and get tired of his own idi***. And yeah the technique and tactic is better now for sure. Even if you dont want to admit or believe it.
Also weight difference gonna be too much.

    You were generalising.

There's HW's that were gifted in earlier eras, especially some of the guys in the 80's.

If Wlad's so gifted, why does he clinch some of his opponents to death?

    Your post was ignorant.

So if Lennox was so good, why he clinches Tyson to death ? :D
Klitschko have more then 65 matches, how many he use so many clinches ? I agree with Povetkin was ugly, with Mormeck maybe and with Peter was more clinches. So 3,4 even 5 matches are nothing from 66 matches he have ...
Ali clinches in a lot more fights, so what ? No one criticize him for that.
Also Klitschko is 38 years old, with Povetkin he was 37 years old .....
You cant expect him to move, like he is 30-35 years old in prime.
Against Haye he was superb. And no matter what people say Haye is a damn good HW. He have insane speed and power to KO anybody.

Wlad very possibly could be a great fighter in any era, but it is hard to judge how well he would have done against the greats because the level of opposition he is used to fighting is such ****.

Everyone clinches from time to time.

    That's fine.

But you've made a generalisation that the fighters from the past, had no skill, no technique, and no defence, while Wlad, who in your eyes is far superior than everyone else, is clinching against fighters who are far from great.

Now do you think he'd have gone undefeated for ten years in other eras?

    If so, which ones?

Choose a ten year period from the past, where you feel he'd have been undefeated.

You are incorrect. Wlads been excessively clinching in every fight since 2004. Ten years of dominance? No, ten years of terrible sportsmanship.
He was told off by the ref 3 times when he fought Brewster. And that was the first round:patsch

Even shot beyond all belief non puncher Byrd got the life clinched out of him in the rematch.

66 matches and he still doesn't have the skills to box a clean fight:tired:patsch

Let's put the shoe on the other foot. What heavyweight of the past fights Wlad's resume- world caliber opposition for 15 years, wide range of styles, multiple southpaws, unification fights, etc. - and does better than 63-3, with a near decade long reign with only a handful of lost rounds?

How much better and more dominant could it realistically be done, and who has shown the longevity and versatility to replicate it?

Again you are reading what you likes and interpret my words.
I never say they dont have defense, technique, tactic, skill and so on.
Also i always say its stupid to compare today fighters to past era fighters and so on.
And what if i say he will be undefeated in 50-60-70-80-90 ? Is my words going to have any strength at all ? One think is to think how would be, and other thing is how will be. We can only imagine and
fantasy about it. You can only fight in the time you live in, and thats all. And for Povetkin i do think this guy is special. He have all the tools, but the height and reach is hes weakness, not by his fault anyway.
Dini did you even watch boxing, cause from all i wrote from you, you know nothing about boxing. And everyone knows that already.
You should not be allowed to write in Wlad threads.
There was nothing wrong with Byrd match.
Go watch Leapai - Boytzov - where in that fight clinches was probably more then 100, but the guy you always complain and cry about how he clinches non-stop and so on, did how many clinches with Leapai ? No more then 5-6 ....

Well, everyone's circumstances are different, but I believe there's a few guys who could have gone undefeated against all Wlad's opponents from 2004 until today.

He's had some good wins, but he hasn't beaten any great fighters.

Fans of his, believe that his peak has been from 2004 onwards. They don't think he was peak when he lost, and only when Manny rebuilt his confidence.

So take peak versions of Vitali, Lennox, Louis, Tyson, Holyfield, Ali and Holmes, and put them against all Wlad's opponents from the last ten years.

My guess is that all of those guys would also have gone undefeated.

    Again, you made a generalisation.

Of course nobody knows what would have happened.

But I'm interested in your opinion.

Do you think this current version of Wlad, would have dominated the 70's, 80's and 90's, in the manner that he's doing today?

I dont know. Nobody knows. But i do know Wlad with Many will be force to be reckon in any era.
Its easy to say, the division now is weak and so on, a lot of guys can be undefeated for 10 years and so on, but i dont think so.
Klitschko face many different fighters with style, size, strengths and so on.
Most of this guys now is 240-250 + pounds, they are big, and boxing today is very tactical. Every fight and fighter is dangerous and can beat you. One shot can make the difference. Lennox beat some great guys, but also a Lennox lose some easy matches on paper. So this could happen if he fight in this era as well.
How can we know that Haye wont Ko him with 1 of his punches? Or Pulev or Povetkin upset the cards?
Same goes with Wlad if he fights in the past eras ...
