you mjst have a mirror in front of your computer because you appear to be writing about yourself. Observe - so you are NOW pretending that you were referring to the first fight? yes or no? Liston didn't give in with a whimper in the first fight, he was injured. If you are including giving up due to injuries theres several examples - so why is this the only example you could think of? And furthermore, lets finish off your foolery now - at the exact moment that Liston gave up due to injury, Ali was actually undisputed HW champion of the world with 20 wins. Are you disputing this? Are you disputing that he was a lesser fighter five minutes before or even five seconds before that injury occurred? Really? Ali became a better fighter in 5 seconds? NO. We know what he was, because its history. As you put it, you need a better understanding of chronology - 2016 is way after 1964.
whats the definition of serious sport? Does it include sport that's NOT serious to you or you've not even heard of, but has massive following in say, China Russia, or the indian subcontinent, perhaps even a bigger following than boxing today. The worlds a big place, and so is the history of sport. dozens of sports have waned in a dozen countries. you'd have to provide stats that show boxing has improved first, or else you have absolutely zero case. You also have to stop making claims you have no knowledge of " if there is some it is a very small %"
Serious sport is sport where there are enough athletes competing. So of course if india, china or russia have enough people competing some sport its serious sport. its not hard concept to understand. I said all sports not just boxing, I can give your stats for sports where you can measure improvement with stats. Something like football or ice hockey you cant measure it so easy but only idiot would not see the difference. Of course you know that boxing you dont have stat system where you can directly compare two eras what makes it hard to nostalgic people to understand that boxing is improving like any other sport. Im sure you think 170lbs guys would rule todays heavyweights because they come from nostalgic times. I sure would not bet my house for their victory So basicaly you are arquing me that every sport in the world is not improving, but coincidentally every sport where you can measure improvements with stats is improving.
Here's a stat. Babe Ruth from the beginning of the century has the record of home runs with the least at bats. His record was only ever tied by Barry Bonds who needed far more at bats. Barry Bonds was a notorious dope cheat and ped user. Nobody has ever argued 170 pounds fighters from inside your strange mind would compete with any HWs of any era. There are plenty of stats to go by in boxing if you have a deep understanding of its history.
Well heavyweight boxers from old time many times weighted 170lbs. Of course there is stats but show me stat stat that objectively proves witch era is better like you can do in 100m run. Here is a stat. 16/24 olympic Athletic records have been broken 2000 or after. 4/24 are from 1990ths 3/24 are form 1980ths and one is from 1960ths. In 1956 in 100m run winner Bobby Morrow won olympic gold with time of 10,62 He would have been number 48 in 2012 olympics. In 1952 javeling throw gold medal was won with 73,78m throw. In 2012 Olympics he would have been number 37 with that throw. Another stat from boxing in 1952 185lbs man won heavyweight title. Today champion weights 246lbs
There's many stats that prove Olympic records have been broken. That has no direct correlation to boxing- Teofilo Stevenson is regarded as the greatest Olympic boxer of all time. Laszlo Papp from the 1940's is first man to capture three consecutive gold medals and remains the only fighter to do so in multiple weight classes. He features on all the greatest of all time lists. Tell me , is Wlad a better athlete than Marciano because he's bigger? Wlad lost fights due to stamina issues. Marciano's stamina, workrate and endurance was so freakishly good , its what contributed to his success.
But not in todays times? Give a jockey of today a chariot and see how far he gets. http://knowledgenuts.com/2013/09/11/the-highest-paid-athlete-of-all-time-is-an-ancient-roman/
Don't worry about him, he just throws out random nonsensical bs that ignores context and reason in hateful attempts to make his sad, bitter life appear meaningful.
I really want to hear the Herol opinion on Wladimir. I bet it's something well thought out, new, fresh ... not the same recycled garbage. Take it away, Herol.
god damn it you're such a re****. Time and time again we have this conversation, time and time again you're pointed to the articles about Wlad insisting on an immediate rematch with Sanders and Sanders turning it down to fight for WBC instead, and time and time again you stop replying until the next opportunity to spew this horse ****e. Lying over an over won't make the lie true. Wlad Never Ducked Anyone in his entire illustrious career, not when he was an exciting boxer puncher, not when he was the boring to tears puncher-hugger. He has plenty of flaws that you can focus on, but ducking is not one of them. Let it go man, you can't go against the facts. Wlad is old school ATG when it comes to facing anyone willing to lace them up.
Herol is getting owned especially badly in this thread. He's never going to let it go, though. I've never seen him post positive about any fighter. I kinda feel bad for him, it takes a special type of hateful person to have such bitterness inside him that he obsessively makes snide, irrational comments about just a couple boxers every time he has even the slightest opportunity.
