We all know the criticism surrounding Wladimir Klitschko. Not exciting enough. Doesn't take enough chances. Put aside your subjective thoughts and your need for excitement which is, in my opinion, an excuse not to like the guy and enjoy the artistry because Wladimir Klitschko is fighting on a level that most fighters can only aspire to. Since his last defeat in 2004, Wladimir has: 1.) Gone 11-0 with 9 stoppages. Highlight-reel finishes against Austin and Brock. 2.) Unified 3 of the titles (IBF, WBO, WBA). 3.) Handed 5 previously undefeated fighters their first career loss (additionally, Tony Thompson hadn't lost a fight in 8 years until facing Wlad). 4.) Dominated the two men (Ibragimov and Chagaev) that many felt had a good chance at giving him a fight. 5.) Won just about every round of every fight except for the knockdown rounds against Peter and giving Brock, Thompson, and Ibragimov maybe a couple rounds apiece. Impressive any way you cut it. Wladimir controls the ring at all-times and simply gives the opponent nothing to work with. Stay at range and get jabbed, come in close and find yourself lunging at a defensive expert or getting your lead hand blocked ever so deftly. It's no surprise that all of his fights seem to feature the same recurring pattern of dominance in which Wladimir does what he wants and then stops the opponent midway through or late. Don't even bother hanging your hopes on this new guard of young heavyweights like Arreola, Haye, Dimitrenko, and Chambers. Just forget it as none of them are in Wlad's league and if you're gonna criticize the guy for not being exciting then you should remember that Lennox Lewis wasn't exactly a whirlwind of excitement either.
So whats the deal, Wladimir is going to fight Alexander Povetkin and then the winner of Eddie Chambers vs Alexander Dimitrenko. Us Haye fans are kind of pissed off that Klitschko is saying Haye is going to have to fight contenders and earn a ranking if he wants to fight Wladimir now. Maybe Haye could just have a tune up against another top ranked HW like Davaryl Williamson then fight Klitschko, like he did with Monte Barrett.
yeah why dont he fight a guy better than barrett just so as them 60 trillion people know what their payin for when him and vlad meet providing haye getz past the other guy o course remember you haye fans were LUCKY to get a shot after beating barrett in the first place now count your blessing that vlad dont make you take 2 fights against guys that are better than barrett before he signs to fight old hayemaker
Williamson is better than Barrett. David Haye had a Title shot all set up. What if Haye fights some HW contender and thay land a lucky punch? Fight down the drain due to a fluke.
Personally, I'd like to see Wladimir beat Arreola next so another delusional group of fans will be silenced. Then he can beat the winner of Dimitrenko and Chambers. Haye can be mixed in their somewhere but he's gotta make it through training camp next time and I'm not trying to be sarcastic either.
Spinning off numbers looks good on paper but nobody on is record is really very good. To put it in perspective, imo Byrd is clearly his best win by a margin significantly thicker than a hair, more like a whole viking's beard
If he's deserving of a title shot, they he should be able to take care of one of the other contenders that he's been slagging off since he made the move to HW.
Thats not the point. Haye had the fight all set. Now he has to start all over and fight contenders to get a fight that he already had scheduled, if he dont fight Vitali? Not Cool
Yeah I did get a little carried away with the numbers but it doesn't mean they aren't impressive. The guy get's a lot of criticism for not being exciting. Could you imagine if he didn't have the stoppages at the end of the fights? He'd be getting ripped to no end. He's done everything that has been asked of him if you think about it. 2 years ago people were banging the drum by saying he needs to unify against Ibragimov and Chagaev and here we are with Wlad holding wins over both. Who else besides maybe Haye is out there?
It is impressive and he is a good fighter. I just find myself almost always talking about him in the negative because of all the twelve years olds on this forum who talk bollocks about him, the likes of farmboxer and co. He's certainly very dominant but the level of available competition is very poor. Vitali would beat him imo, although that fight's not going to happen, which is fair enough, I wouldn't fight my brothers sober. I wouldn't really pick anybody else who's out there to beat him although any puncher has a chance. Maybe a Valuev fight would be interesting, Wlad's clearly the superior fighter but fighting a bigger guy may cause him significant problems when being the big guy is his stock in trade and don't forget the chin. Not saying Val could beat him necessarily but it'd be something we haven't seen him have to deal with before.
Wladimir Klitschko is cleaning out the HW division and there's no one in sight other than Haye or Vitali that has a chance at beating him. Wladimir's resume is only going to get better.
I didn't give them any rounds. Vlad is boxing 101, has everything. Has worked so very hard for years to get where he is. I love watching his skills, pure talent and very hard training. Emanuel is very proud of Vlad. Vlad will go into Hall OF Fame.
I thought Brock nicked a couple rounds with good body work and not much coming back from Wlad other than a probing jab. He realy didn't start letting the jab go with force until the 5th round. Thompson's size and southpaw stance allowed him to make it uncomfortable for Wlad in patches. I haven't watched the fight since it happened but I seem to remember him winning an early round while making another round close enough to be even. The Ibragimov fight was so low on action that Sultan managed to win 2 rounds. Once again, not a fight I would rewatch. Emmanuel Steward knew that based on the opposition, that '08 wouldn't be aesthetically pleasing for Wlad. It's kind of hard to look good against guys like Thompson and Ibragimov.
