To be fair Chris Toney earned $2.8 million vs Rahman and $1.1 million vs Peter so the $1.5 million offered for a title shot does seem pretty low.

 

We all know that whatever Povetkin's promoter was whining about was an excuse. Teddy Atlas said it had nothing to do with Povetkin turning down the fight. Povetkin "wasn't ready" and was being "rippied off" by Sauerland. Whatever Sauerland was writing in press releases was just a smoke screen.

K2 are the only promotional company who demand that negotiations are private. There's a reason for this.

Just for comparison Vitali earned $1.4 million vs. Lewis. And that was as a mandatory challenger.

I can completely relate to the K brothers shaking their heads when contenders without belts are asking for more than the K brothers themselves were earning as challengers.

Irrelevant. We are talking about boxing. Name me one promoter who has purposefully stated that a fighter cannot talk to the press.

The reason it is irrelevant, is because boxing is driven by the media. The contracts you've signed don't matter to anyone but in boxing, the details of the contract do matter. We want to know everything from who is getting paid what, what clauses each fighter has all the way to what gloves the boxers will use. That is the standard protocol in the sport and the only promotional group to change that are K2.

This doesn't mean that we know everything about every contract, no, but sometimes people just don't care. However, the only people to ever ban talking to the media on a regular basis are the Klitschko's and that's undeniable.
