I would probably give Rocky a better chance with the inexperienced inside grappler of Wlad, but he has become very good at tying up on the inside and laying on his opponents. He would wear out Rocky pretty quickly if Rocky couldnt hurt him quickly. Rocky would have his hands full getting past Wlads quick righthand too.
I can't see how he could have anymore difficulty than he ever had with the likes of Walcott and Charles and Moore - three vastly quicker sneakier and classier punchers than Vlad - I think Vlad would look very very stiff and slow and awkward in comparison with Rocky Marciano - I'd give the pre-title Rock of fights like Louis and Savold the edge over Vlad too - not just the prime champion version - he's just a real fighter - Vlad wouldn't be able to cope with that - if he couldn't cope with the likes of Sanders then he damn sure aint lasting long in there with one of the greatest punchers and finishers in heavyweight history
wlad stops rocky on cuts.rocky is one tough sob but he is giving up too much in this one.wlad would easily clinch him when he gets inside.rocky easily cuts and he is going to have a hard time with wlad's jab and right hand.and i can't see rocky bulking up to 210.,maybe 200 max.he just didn't have the frame to be 210 and his speed and stamina would suffer.interesting i think dempsey has a better chance against wlad
Someone please remind me of the analogous 185 pound fighter around who has ever given Wlad a hard time? And don't give me this crap about Marciano going in at 210. He would look and move like a waterlogged tree stump. Wlad whitewashes small heavies., which today means 210 pounders. I seriously doubt Marciano would win a round before someone threw in the towel. Delusion, thee hast a refuge here.
If the two were to trade toe to toe, with rocky having a chance to land at a fairly regular frequency, then he wins... The reality however, is that Wlad is not just going to fight an inside match with Marciano, and with his safety first approach, will likely keep the Rock at a comfortable distance. Marciano was not 6'4", 225 lbs, with fast hands and a south paw style like Corrie Sanders was... He also wouldn't be facing Wlad without Manny in his corner ( assuming that they were matched at their best. ) In addition, some of those hard shots of Rocky's would lose some of their sting, when extending up to meet a man who stood 6'7". I also believe that Wlad hits very hard, even with just his jab, and make no mistake, those shots would take their toll.. Lastly, with his superior size and strength, there is no way that Marciano is controlling the action in the clinches..... This is a mismatch..
Probably yes. Because Marcianio's style would have prevented it from landing flush. I haven't seen Wlad demonstrate panic nor stamina issues for a while, and since the TS mentioned 'prime,' I would pick Wlad by decision. If it ends before the distance, I'd probably pick Marciano. Though he'd have difficulty getting the proper leverage on a guy so much taller.
I think this version of Wlad would beat Marciano at his best. Wlad is like a Spanish Madator in there, yet he also has the size and strength of the bull. Rocky is just too small to have anything but a puncher's chance. And with Rocky's short arms and Wlad's height Rocky would need to get very close to land.
Wlad would dominate Marciano...who was easy to hit, never faced a fighter as big with being as technically proficient( Charles and Louis were past it and smaller, dont count)...No one Marciano faced has that jab Wlad has which IMO is top 5 in heavyweight history. Not to mention the right hands he'd take trying to land one big bomb....this isnt a 5'10-6'1" fighter Marciano is fighting, he is 6'6" and has the style and temperment to stick and stab til Marciano is stopped or Kayoed. Outside of a punchers chance, Marciano rally doesnt have a good shot.
a bit of the ol' sarcasm. Theres not a sanctioning body around that would let Cockell in a ring with Wlad... The Rock can't dispatch the guy without every dirty trick in the book and about a 100 Suzie Q's... Yet I'm supposed to believe that The Rock, the mythical midget the type of which no longer exists, would even last 8 rounds with a prime Waldo. I hope that explicates my point.
