Bottom line, this will not go away. Fighters are now worried about whether or not their opponent is clean. I feel that in the next few years a lot of big fights will be spoiled over requests for random blood tests. Everyone knows that boxing needs a better drug testing policy, and boxing is already dangerous enough, the last thing we need are fighters who have a strength or stamina advantage that was gained through improper means.

It really sucks that some of these fights may not happen, but for the good of the sport boxing needs to institute a mandatory random anti doping policy that is set up around blood tests, not urine tests.

Test them before the fight, not after the fight because boxing does not need to have a fighter injured severely in a fight and than find out afterwards that the winning fighter was doping.

You know, I'd have a much easier time believing Wlad's on roids than Manny Pacquiao. Wlad is as big and muscly a mother****er as you're going to see in boxing.

With what Mayweather started its guarenteed those legends you mention would be under scrutiny as well.

The examples you give with Povetkin calling the fight off if Wlad wouldnt agree to the tests is exactly why the governing bodies should do something on this issue.

I don't think it is so much of a fear of these guys taking the tests. I think it has to do more with why should they have to jump through all of these hoops, because their opponent has some stupid hunch. I think it is bull****, and if it is not required, should not be done. If you are to do drug testing, make it universal, for every fight. That fixes all the problems.

Why should Wladimir have to put up with so much non-sense just because Povetkin has a hunch. Same goes for Pacman and Mayweather. I fully support both Pacman and Wladimir in this issue, and I would do exactly the same thing... and I barely even work out, much less yet take steroids. :yep

And the above paragraph is something that is known by both Mayweather, and in this case Povetkin.. so it is just making it seem from an outside perspective that these guys are looking for an easy, inconspiquous out of the fight, while making their opponent look like they are juicing.

Boxing has become a game of politics. And these guys are supposed to be tough guys. Lace up the gloves, and get in the ring!

Personally I don't have a problem with random drug testing.. Companies do it all the time.. The military does it... Lot's of factions do it.... Why shouldn't it be done in professional sports, especially if performance enhancing drugs are against regulation.. If the guy has nothing to hide, then there shouldn't be a problem..

Povetkin has every right to demand testing. As long as Wladmir ducks such tests, he deserves to be criticized.

Doping in sport is a reality and it's not unreasonable to demand a level playing field.

    No.

Vitali says... Wlad has no say anything about this.

But Povetkin is the mandatory. How can he dictate the rules?

    The IBF make the rules.

I am against Pac not taking random drug testing, so its only fair i hold the same stance for wlad as well.

Sorry, but nobody will ever convince me that not making a fight happen because your turning down a higher level of PED use is the fighter requesting its fault.

    It´s absolutely unreasonable because:

    - he never has asked for such a thing before
    - Wladimir is tested on a regular basis
    - The sanctoning organisation can ask for a testing not the contender

It seems that Povetkin feels that he is not ready to fight a Klitschko...

This costs a lot of money. Not all fighters can apply for this.

Maybe just apply the rule to all fighters inside the top 10-20? :think

Is it reasonable to expect a fighter to enter a match where he believes his opponent is using PEDs?

Will it do the sport any good when that fighter brutally loses and at the end of his fight stands infront of the camera and says "I lost because my opponent is using PEDs and the powers that be are using out-dated testing methods?"

Also he's never faced anyone as good as Klitschko so he would never have had to ask before.

Blame the governing bodies for lax procedures, not the fighters for being suspicious.

yeah, i see this a bit different from the pac-floyd fiasco

pac and floyd are both mega-ultra superstars

wlad is the HW king, and pov is not even close

i disagree about the IBF thing, it is between the fighters, and it's more that Wlad's right to tell Pov to F O

also, pac bounced around and has had 30 different variations of what would be ok and what wouldn't be ok in regards to testing, while Wlad has just come out and said...hey asshat, I'M the name, I'M the champ, I make demands, not you

    BUT

i mostly blame boxing and their screwed up ABC weak ass system
