This is certainly not a fight I want to see, as there will be NO drama whatsoever. Wladimir will crush Rahman without question.

There are other, far more deserving heavyweights out there who deserve this chance. This is like John Ruiz continuously getting a _title_ shot from Valuev.

Here is a short list of other, far more deserving heavyweights whom I feel Wladimir should fight next.

    Arreola
    Dimitrenko
    Bidenko
    Ibragimov
    Chagaev
    Kevin Johnson
    Odlanier Solis

Arreola is protected for a good reason. Rahman would knock him out. I cannot see how anyone could say he has earned a shot with the comp he has been fighting. Yes Rahman has been loosing but at least he has been fighting decent fighters. IMO the only fight for Wald is Valuev. Holyfeld is a tomato can these days so Valuev should dump him and fight Wald. That would remove both Holyfeld and Rahman both who do not deserve a shot.

Rahman is the highest available contender of the IBF!!

Blame the IBF but it is not Wlads fault. He had nothing to do with the rankings. For years he sues the IBF because of there ranking system and lost in court.

So you cannot blame Wlad that Povetkin pulls out. Blame Povetin who is a coward. And Rahman is a real fighter who steps in.

How is Rahman any worse than Austin or a broken Brewster? Don't get me wrong, I consider Rahman slightly more of a threat than a six foot mound of fresh, soft guano, but he is one of several 90's-relic names that need to be taken out of the contention mix by force. It will be entertaining, in that "how long will this last?" kind of way. And it can only better the division. Rahman will be finished. One less hanger-on fighting in eliminators after wearing out their welcome. Bring on Ruiz, Holyfield, Golota, McCall, Toney, McCline etc. for the Klit bros to feast on (and I like some of these guys...they just need to be KTFO of the picture and the game for the sake of their fast-depreciating careers).

That isn’t what I call great news.
So Povetkin vs. Klitchko isn’t going to happen before the next IBF mandatory defence in early 2010.

Why isn't Toney trying to make this?, he talked smack about BOTH Klitschkos countless times in every single interview ever since he step foot in the division yet NEVER officially called out either guy, it was them doing it for him with career high paydays(check out the Vitali offer) when he needed it the MOST and he turned it down. Why isn't he trying to make this fight?

You must be really silly to pick Arreola and Ibragimov(especially after his fight with Wladimir). Chagaev is the only name I would take seriously in that list and he only had one fight this year, which was in January and nothing mentioned since. Rahman is the highest on the IBF rankings right after Povetkin so he took his spot.

Toney said they negotiated for the fight with Wlad. So he was trying to make the fight.
I guess he didn’t have high enough ranking to get that bogus mandatory position.

    As for the Vitali match.
Toney challenged WBC title soon after that
(Im not realy sure if Vitalis offer was right after Ruiz match. When exactly did Vitali offer that fight?), so maybe he wanted fight tune up before going for the title.

Arreola - what has he done?
Dimitrenko - yes he´d be better but probably unavailable
Bidenko - what has he done?
Ibragimov - been there, done that
    Chagaev - unavailable
Kevin Johnson - small name and unaccomplished
Odlanier Solis - to inexperienced and wouldn´t fight Wlad

I agree. On somebody´s question about when Vitali offered Toney a fight, it was actually Wlad who did, not Vitali. Toney felt the money was unsatisfying (or so he said) and turned it down to fight Peter instead. Wlad went on to fight Calvin Brock if I remember it correctly.

Vitali offered the fight after the Ruiz cheating that Toney showed and Toney was looking for a fight at the time, they never mentioned anything about needing a tune-up he actually openly called out Klitschko like a week before that and Klitsschko shows up with a career high payday offer which was publicly and shamelessly turned down.

Vitali also offered him a fight, it was all over the place at the time, this was after the Ruiz fight and Toney already had enough time off that fight to accept this one and the career high payday with a free WBC title shot. Vitali was waiting for Rahman to fight Barrett and decided to stay active by taking this one, which was turned down as Toney demanded more money when he wasn't worth it.
