Vlad did a great job. Remember how so many here were picking Thompson by knockout over Vlad? And Teddy Atlas predicted a knockout by Thompson also.
You are full of **** again Boxfarmer... In answer to your question I remember...9 guys on the whole site...out of 198 votes...or 4.5 % if "Rico Stat-a-4ya" is reading. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=4917
1) Thomson stood there for about 7 rounds with his hands over his ears waiting for a reason to be KO'd. He had a go for about 3 rounds, then spent the rest of the fight looking like a statue with earmuffs.
I think Wlad has declined a bit, or maybe it looks like that because of the akward southpaws...at any rate, a solid win while winning most rounds against an unorthodox, undefeated fighter. Not the stuff of legends, but he was a ranked contender and he's beaten quite a lot of them in the last few years now.
That was a good performance for Klitschko's boxing skill & he ended it with a nice, highlight reel KO. What's not to like?
I think it was a better performance than against Ibragimov - but he could have hardly do any worse than that pathetically bad showing. If the referee had stopped him from doing that annoying patting down of the jab it could have forced him to open up with his right hand and put Sultan to sleep. He is actually a very good fighter, but is painfully boring to watch. Typical German really (though he isn't German if you get me) - very efficient, not exactly exciting or excitable! Nothing wrong with being cautious - Lennox Lewis was cautious (protect your King and all that) but Wlad simply fights scared.
Agreed. I want him to do well and I confidently predicted big knockout victories in his last two fights, only to be disappointed (and please don't waste my time trying to make out the Thompson victory as a big knockout). He's capable of a lot more and I hope he shows it against Povetkin. I can't agree 100%, but of the two options I'd have to go for : 1.) Average performance by Wladimir Klitschko against an average fighter.
Wlad did a very good job but Teddy Atlas was right, Thompson was a much better fighter than some users believed. He had a very akward style and he should could win the fight if Wladimir was not prepared to go for 12 rounds and Wlad was well prepared for body shots. Gladfully he is with Emanuel Steward and Steward knows his stuff. I had not expect that Thompson would take the punches so well and was so hard to hit. To say that a boxer has a chance against any Klitschko is not hate them. Wlad has his weakness like other fighters, nobody is perfect. Thompson wants to win the fight and he give Wlad some troubles, more than i have expected. It was a very excited fight for 11 rounds with a great end from Wladimir. Perfect right hand on the chin took Thompson to the cavans. Wladimir had learned to tired up the opponent, and than take him away. But is was a very good performance from Tony and the crowd honours with standing ovations.
Wlad has COMPLETELY DOMINATED EVERYONE put in front of him for the past couple of years. People who are whining about how he doesn't look very good and how is isn't great are out of their minds. Wlad is the one of the mos,t if not the most dominant fighter IN ANY DIVISION right now.
Mediocre performance against a shockingly bad opponent. IMO. FYI, outpointing someone widely is not the same as "dominating" them. Wlad is just very cautious, jabs, stays back, and edges most rounds. Very rarely does he impose himself on anyone, control them, dictate the pace, and win rounds very clearly. Very very rarely.
There weren’t many posters picking him to win. Everybody knew Wlad was going to win that fight. Still Wladimir was hardly impressive and he’s reign is going to end soon.
Tony was a game opponent unlike several of Wlad's previous fights he was not scared and showed a good chin and has an awkward style. He is not a bad fighter.
If you ask Peter all your going to get is.....He wont be able to hawndle mah powa. I wheel knock him out you wait to see.
