Chambers is the best current American Heavyweight but Byrd was better defensively IMO. I expect a similar result to Wlad vs. Byrd II, with Chambers being KO'd early to mid rounds depending on how quickly Wladimir establishes his range and how aggressively Chambers fights. If Eddie tries to get inside a lot he gets taken out earlier, if he just tries to survive a la Kevin Johnson he gets KO'd later in a less exciting fight.
The perfect foil for a high guard is a very heavy jab & Wladimir has the heavy jab to get through. Thompson tried that high guard and it didn't do more than extend the fight to the later rounds. In fact against Thompson Wlad threw a good amount of body shots, hooks & the rare uppercut under that high guard.
Byrd was shot when he fought Wladimir the second time. Chambers is a more complete fighter than Byrd. He is faster of hand and foot and he has a more varied assortment of punches. I am no Chambers fan but he does have everything he needs to out perform Wladimir. All he has to do is stay away from that straight right hand and throw a lot of punches.
Wladimir by TKO or UD, no way in hell Chambers wins this. Only style that I would claim COULD give Wladimir trouble is an aggressive style with serious power, speed not too important as long as power is top notch and Chambers is NOTHING like that. If any of you think that Chambers can outbox Wladimir then prepare to score every single round for Wladimir right now. I'll be shocked if Chambers wins ONE round CLEARLY, even if he does win one it will be close and 50/50. Wladimir will beat the **** out of him and I'm already ready to see threads that say "Wladimir fights another tomato can" while completely ignoring all the praises going on now about how Chambers is pro once more and ATG stuff. Yeah, the same stuff that the newbies here, specifically Calzaghe fans or just noobs, about how RJJ is prime once more for beating Lacy. Remember that Freddy "KFC in HD photos" Wak?, I'm sure you won't like you don't many other stuff. :yep Wladimir beats his ass. Prepare to hype anyone else, good luck finding one, Haye is the only one with a good chance and I do agree he HAS a good chance. Haye has skill, power, movement and defense but WON'T find it easy to handle Wladimir's power when he's forced to. I hope he could but it will be hard. Another top class fight by Wladimir, best of luck, support is there 110% as a fan. :good
There remain people who steadfastly refuse to accept that the Earth is round. Just because you can find a few people detached enough from reality to hold the view that Chambers is anything other than a historically substandard, American heavyweight, it does not mean that the rest of us should not feel vindicated for holding the belief that Chambers is tomato can level following his one-sided defeat to Wlad.
You're saying Chambers is just another Kevin Johnson? Come on, you're not really doing much of a service for your boy here. And about Chambers "hitting harder than Byrd": 1. I don't think "hard" is the appropriate term when analysing those guys punching power. 2. Byrd has a KO percentage of about 54% and Chambers 51%, so there isn't much of a difference. And that's not the kind of power you need to bother Wlad. And Byrd has of course fought much better opposition. Chambers is now a pro for 9 years already and the names on his record are Brock, Povetkin, Peter and Dimitrenko. Byrd after 9 years had fought Ibeabuchi, both Klitschkos, Tua and Holyfield. :blood How about betting all your CASH on "Fast Eddie"? :good
:good You definitely hit the nail on the head. I've said the same thing before. Everyone thinks these fighters are great and will beat the Klitschkos, but when the K brothers win they automatically say those fighters were tomato cans and they don't give any credit to the K brothers. It's pretty messed up.
this fight to me will be like chambers vs. povetkin in a sense, chambers will prob look good or ok early then SLOW down as the fight progresses with wlads power might even be a quicker SLowING DOWN. lol wlad tko or ko 7-9
You talk to most boxing analysis and fans and they will tell you that Chambers threw that fight away. Chambers did well the first four rounds against Povetkin, and after that he allowed Povetkin to get back in the fight, and did nothing to stop Povetkin from winning rounds. Chambers fought Brock the same way, it's just that against Borck he found more opportunities to land counter-punches. The reason why Chambers KO % is low he because he's always had a low work-rate throughout most of his career, just recently it started to pick up. Believe me Chambers hits harder than Byrd. You want proof? Watch their matches against Povetkin. Byrd hit Povetkin with everything but the kitchen sink and there wasn't a mark on Povetkin's face. Chambers was nailing Povetkin with hard clean counter-punches and his eye was already swollen by the third round, by the end of the fight Povetkin's right eye was almost closed.
Chambers has the right plan, but as the "immortal" Mike Tyson said once, everyone has a plan until they get hit.
Wlad will not let him stay away. Wlad has great footwork and moves very fast and throws punches when he changes the angles. So Chambers will have a very hard time not comparable with Dimitrenko.
I never said Chambers is great. What I was talking about is how fans that hate on the K brothers always hype up the opponents and think they're great fighters. I remember when a lot of people thought Sam Peter was great and that he was going to knock out both fighters. And look what happened. The same thing happened to Austin, Arreola, Gomez, Johnson......and the list goes on. Many people thought Johnson was amazing and how he was going to be the next best American heavyweight and look what happened. I'm American but I'm not going to support only American fighters. I support any fighter that has good skills, is fun to watch, and is a good person.
