I was rewatching Chambers-Dimitrenko again, Wlad's in for a tough fight. I suggest you watch that fight too.
True. I considered Chambers the best American Heavy, ironically since his loss to Povetkin. Since then he's improved quite a bit & gotten himself into good shape and strung together some nice wins. Still, I think Eddie's strengths are similar to those of Chris Byrd & that doesn't bode well for Eddie. Wladimir will dictate the pace & range as he always does & land a left hook or right hand to end the fight. Klitschko by KO in 7 rounds, earlier if Eddie tries to be aggressive, later if Eddie fights safety first a la Kevin Johnson. Honestly Wlad would've KO'd Kevin because he has that 1 punch KO power & the fast hands and accuracy to land.
So Wlad doesn't have a great left hook? :huh He can throw that hook off the jab or planted for more power like he did against Austin. The high guard didn't help Thompson much did it? I guess it helped him survive til later in the fight but he went down all the same.
I hope Eddie wins this although stylistically it doesn't look good. But I think Eddie has a lot of the good traits of Calvin Brock, who gave Wlad a good amount of trouble earlier in their fight. Wlad could not find Brock due to good movement, a good body attack, and keeping his hands high. I think we'll see Chambers reach the final bell.
You cannot compare Dimitrenko with Wlad. Wlad has the great trainer Emanuel Steward in the corner who teaches Wlad to use his heigt. Dimitrenko did not know these things. Wlad has great footwork, movement a better jab. Wlad will win by KO.
All the good ones are off playing football and basketball now. Remember Tommy Zbikowski? Football player for Notre Dame? He had a pro fight, looked promising, good amateur background. He decided to play football instead. He's now a backup safety for the Ravens, and he might go to the ProBowl for special teams. Perfect example of what's happening to boxing in American though. Why try to work your way up the ranks in boxing, have to wait until you get to the top to really make money and risk getting beat or concussed on the way up and losing it all when you can make a million a year guaranteed playing football?
Boxers salaries are declining, there getting less coverage now, unless you are Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather. Back in the 80's boxers would get more coverage, thus getting more money.
I think Chambers will win by UD, I think Chambers will fight at his absolute best, and Wladimir will hardly land any clean shots.
are you really trying to compare Wlad and Dimitrenko? not even close to the same fighter other than height and reach Power, speed, footwork and ring experience are not even close:-(
atschatsch Chambers has that hands by the ears lean back style... Wlad is a master at splitting the gloves going down the middle with the jab and as soon as eddie brings the hands slightly together to stop the middle shots...the left hook is going to do real damage when Wlad starts that punch as a jab and turns it over.... you'll see:hi:
What makes you think Chambers will fight Wladimir the same way he did against Dimitrenko? Chambers is much better at slipping and blocking the jab than previous Wladimir opponents.
They can still make a lot of money, but it takes longer, and you have to work your way up to that money, whereas in the NFL, you get a contract so you get your money right away.
