February 19, 2012 | Wladimir Klitschko's statement after Chisora's scandalous behaviour during fight week

    Dear friends,

I am shocked and deeply embarrassed by the actions of Dereck Chisora and his team over this past week.It saddens me how he represented the sport of boxing and disrespected the Champion of the World Vitali Klitschko at the weigh-in and fight night. But even more embarrassing and disgraceful to the sport was the post fight press conference.

With journalists from all over the world in attendance, this same man Dereck Chisora, got into a fight with Adam Booth, the trainer of David Haye, and David Haye himself. Dereck then promised out loudly multiple times right in front of the press to "personally SHOOT AND KILL David Haye!!!"

For all of the great Champions from the past that have been polishing the image of the sport of boxing and giving it the glamor, respect and recognition while setting a good example for the youth of the world to follow, this type of behavior kills all that hard work from the former champs and teaches disrespect for the sport and fellow human beings.

There has to be consequences for these kinds of actions and must never be tolerated by the boxing organizations, the media, fellow boxers and boxing fans. It must be stopped, otherwise the sport of boxing is going to go down the hill fast! I just wanted to share my feelings and thoughts with you and hope some type of action is taken to show the world that the sport of boxing WILL NOT tolerate this kind of behavior

    With respect,

    Wladimir Klitschko

Hey wlad, how about being involved in some entertaining fights once in a while? That would go a long way to restoring boxing's reputation. The heavyweight division needs to be exciting. and you can do that if you went for the KO a bit more often, instead of hiding behind that jab against overweight overmatched opponents.

    Without respect,

    sosolid

Its obvious that this kind of nonsense sells fights, yes. We all know that. Ok. Got it.

But from a sportsman/common respect/professionalism standpoint, which is where Wlad and Vitali come from, its abhorrent.

You gotta see things from where someone else is standing to understand their views.

I am sure Wlad realizes the ear biting, water spitting, name calling kind of fighters create demand, yes, but he and his brother dont' seem to need to resort to that (even if it were to sell more tickets) to continue to sell out their fights.

And they don't see the cost of losing their reputation as dignified and professional sportsmen worth exchanging for merely selling the extra tickets.

    Plain and simple.

The Kbro's are 2 of the most likeable and intrieging characters in boxing.

I'm british, and the Klitchko's gave us a lesson in class this weekend.

For all americans bad mouthing them. If these guys were American, they would be absolutely worshiped by you all.

Well I admit criminals that beat up their 5 foot girl friends, assault people and threaten to kill them are interesting to watch from a distance.

They belong in a cage however.

If Wlad was so dissapproving why was he standing on a chair, grinning & giving it 2 thumbs up whilst the brawl happened?

Why did he encourage Chisora when he marched over to Haye?

Both Klits get up to so much **** during negotiations & mess about every opponent they face.

Chisora and Haye get boxing on every news station. Every fan is talking about it. Many non-fans will watch the eventual fight.

Wlad got boxing banned from MSG, New York refused to show boxing, HBO banned heavyweights and the Klitschkos couldn't fight in America.

You tell me what hurts boxing more. A fight at a press conference? Or a pathetic fight in the ring?
