Wladimir's losses

My opinion is that you are a fanboy.

Purrity was no joke, he was as tough as they come and walked through hell to beat Wlad. I would like to see you walk through 1% of what he has lol. Wlad fights smart yes he beats him. I would also have him beating prime Brewster,tenacious and tough as he was, he had limitations.

Sanders is another matter, he is clearly better than Haye and dangerous. Wlads improved but i could see him getting caught again.

 

Sanders was 40 when he destroyed Wlad.

He spent most of his career being ducked by the world champs in the division

 

And Wlad learned from his losses. Since 2004 he has a great and very good professional coach in his corner: Emanuel Steward.

 

No version of Sanders would beat the current Wlad. Sanders was big and powerful but limited his only punch was his straight left and hes always been a 4 round fighter at best. Sanders would get jabbed to death and probably stopped later on like in the fight with Vitali. He did a perfect job against Wlad that night no doubt but Sanders has never been a stylistic nightmare for Wlad or anything. Sanders just fooled him he knew what Wlad was going to do made him miss and so lured him into midrange to set his left up then butted in like 8 times with his left eventually landed twice and Wlad felt apart. Several other guys tried the same thing but its impossible to lure todays Wlad into situations like that. Wlad would be some journeyman at best if it was still so easy to beat him

 

I'm a strong believer in a man being judged for his best years.

The only loss that means anything to me is the loss to brewster. He was under steward's tutelage and was at the beginning of a 7 year win streak.

His loss to purrity was early in his career in a fight he didn't prepare well for because he underestimated his opponent. He'd never gone the full twelve by that point and made the fight on a couple of week notice. Against an iron chinned man with supreme heart that was a bad career move.

The loss to sanders was a fight he had prepared badly for again and was still before his prime. It was the death of ruthless risk taking wlad, that man would not have dominated as cautious efficient wlad has done.

His chin problems will always be there, as will his stamina problems. That was not the version of wlad who is a great. That was a version of wlad trying to emulate big brother. It was a version not willing to accept the frailties he has.

Under steward he had an efficient strategy which was proven already with lewis and hearns. He knew all about his weaknesses and how to protect them. He looked very good early doors against brewster, he lost to the better man that night. A loss he later avenged. The 3 fight series against brewster, williamson and peter was the real making of wlad. Every fight he grew in confidence and showed stylistic improvements. Under steward he has beaten everyone he faced.

So the brewster loss is the only one i'd hold against him but he avenged it and hence answered my questions about that loss.

I don't care what anyone tells me about age and experience. Look at lewis, bowe, holyfield and tyson and how their primes never quite overlapped. Stylistically wlad didn't hit his prime until steward.
