Defeats the purpose of turning pro. Its like taking a step backwards. I suppose he would get more challenges there, fighting the best the world has to offer in amateur ranks over the course of 2 weeks.

He was the youngest super heavyweight gold medalist of all time and had one of the best amateur careers of any fighter in history. Nothing much to gain and a lot to lose.

?? How is it like turning backwards. They're both different branches of the same sport.
Amateurs is not the elementary level.

I can't be the only one who agrees that once you go pro you can't go back?

    Its in the name.

    Amateur>Professional

Turning pro is a step forward, naturally turning amateur from pro is turning back. And yes amateur is the elementary level, except for a few, most learn their craft as an amateur and when they get good enough or have the desire, turn pro.

Different scoring system, could be done by a pitty patting cuban who can survive 3 rounds. Also headgear and bigger gloves lessen his punching power somewhat. That said he was as good as an amateur as he is a pro and much more experienced now. Should be interesting to see the first high profile pro boxer go back to the ams.

I am a pro and I always school each and every amateur I have sparred in the gym,,... I don't know if its called pride but I make sure its clear that I am the winner..... You think Wlad would allow some amateur school him to shame???? He's way more accomplished than me and I'm pretty sure he'll stamp his class on the Olympics,,...

I've seen pro's get schooled in the gym by seasoned amateurs. Depends on the pro's experience I guess and no doubt Wlad has both Ams and pro experience but he hasn't boxed amateur in so long, someone might just beat him via scoring system.

Garcia for example would never beat Khan in the amateurs.

I don't see the point of that. Is he going to beat some 19 year old kid to get the gold? Let some of the young fighters have a chance.

Shouldn't he be embarrassed to go beating up young kids. And for what? What would it prove him winning the Olympic medal? Nothing at all. What an *******

We'll never know,,... Khan was beating him up easy but was caught by a no-look punch, got his confidence destroyed and was stopped by the ref,,... Regarding those pros getting beat up by seasoned amateurs,, to that I can relate but not in my case..... The reason why I think I win is because those amateurs fight too clean,, I rough them up..... :D
