A superfight takes a lot of promotion. This is what makes it obvious Wlad is full of ****t. Maybe he could get in shape but hows he gonna manage press tours etc that could go on for a couple weeks? Theres lot more than just getting in shape invloved here. It impossible to do a superfight in 8 weeks and anyone who knows boxing should know this.
The best HW fight of the 2000's took place with a week's notice, we don't need 6 more months of bull**** to build up a fight, 8 weeks is fine, Wlad could beat Chisora and haye on the same night anyway.
Wlad doesn't want the fight. It's that simple, he's waiting for Haye to retire so he can fight more bums without criticism.
Exactly. The physicality of training and fighting so often is one thing. If he can do it and comes through without injury, fine. However, this is the biggest heavyweight fight in a long, long time and should be hyped to suit it. Sure, we don't need any hype because we're hardcore fans but what about the general public? Especially in America because it's the one heavyweight fight HBO are interested in. The fight should be heavily pushed in America, with a nationwide tour, to get some interest back in heavyweight boxing. You really think they can do that, given the fact Wlad would already have an unusually short training camp? You think they can suitably hype the fight in Britain, continental Europe, the east and America? The biggest heavyweight fight for the past, what, 10 years? A fight that could genuinely save heavyweight boxing, which has become an absolute laughing stock, in the eyes of the general public? Impossible.
klitschkos pretty much admitted they would have boycotted hbo to go on showtime just cuz of a grudge over hbo dropping the klitschko v povetkin fight due to it being on a tape delay from germany.
Exactly, how can the mugs on here not realise it atsch Ps Chef's been awfully quite the last couple of days
It would, yeah, but not given the time restrictions. Ideally, you'd want Wlad to beat Chisora and then go on a month or so of promotion. That just couldn't happen given the limits they have. Wlad would already only train for 8 weeks, which is shorter than usual, and if he then had to do a month or so of promotion, he'd be even more limited. I think the fight deserves as much promotion as both sides can afford. I'd hate to see this fight go under the radar of the mainstream public, to fit a fight with Chisora in. It would be a complete waste of a huge event.
Perhaps beating up Chisora is what's causing the fight to fall apart and there to be no promotion. Perhaps there's no point promoting a fight that isn't going to happen, and therefore there's no point fighting Chisora, right? Besides, no-one in Britain knows who Chisora or Klitschko really are, it would not be a very big event over here, hate to say it but Heavyweight boxing is totally ignored here.
Just imo Wlad vs Chisora would be PART OF THE PROMOTION for Wlad vs Haye, and further promotion would begin as soon as the Chisora fight is out of the way anyways, and with Wlad ALREADY being in shape and on schedule, taking time off for press cons and tours would really, really, not be as big a deal as some are trying to make it out. Ya, if Wlad was starting from nothing, he couldnt fit it all into one training camp and still do the promotion within 8 weeks, but he will ALREADY be in fighting condition once promotion for the Haye fight even starts. Not to mention, this fight has BEEN PROMOTED for YEARS now, on top of that, this fight sells itself. With Wlad vs Haye being the talk all the way up to Wlad vs Chisora (with Haye probably being ringside for that fight) and then kicking off Wlad vs Haye as soon as Wlad KO's Chisora, 8 weeks will be plenty. Ive never seen so many people try to assume what another fighter can, and cant do.
The thing is though, it's only us serious fans who care at this point. You ask 10 people who Klitschko is in Britain, and 9 won't know. Ask 10 people in Germany who Haye is, and 9 won't know. Ask 100,000 people in America and 5 might know I really do think that because it's the biggest heavyweight fight of the last decade, it should be given a huge promotion. I don't know what Wlad can do, no, but I think it's safe to assume he will want as much of that 8 week gap in between fights as possible. I think a fight of this magnitude, with the different nations and continents involved, needs a hugely long promotional tour. Something similar to Mayweather/Hatton, probably. I just don't think there's enough time for that. My stance is simple though. The fight is falling apart because Wlad wants to have an absolutely pointless fight against Chisora. Haye has met every demand, so if Wlad wants it, **** Chisora and let's get it on. Have an exhibition or a fight that'll only be shown on German TV whenever they choose to put it on. If this fight doesn't happen, people will look back in 20 years and say "We missed out on Wlad/Haye because of...Dereck Chisora?!". That would be a huge disservice to boxing.
the **** are you guys on about. Wlad took the fight. Haye is the one dropping it because Wlad is gonna fight Chisora first. What the **** is his problem. Wlad fighting Chisora is big promotion for Wlad-Haye anyways. For anyone on the outside looking in, it makes no sense. What does Haye give a **** if Wlad fights Chisora first.
So Wlad vs Chisora is part of the promotion for Wlad - Haye? Can you explain to me the point in a promoting a fight that is not going to happen? If he fights Chisora the Haye fight is dead, so what would be the point of fighting Chisora? A tune-up? A tune-up for who exactly? ****ing Klitschko fans are idiots, boxing is supposed to be a sporting competition, not just some circus where Wlad or Vitali beat people up for your amusement. If Wlad wants to get in shape ****ing spar with Chisora, don't waste our time and **** up the best heavyweight fight in years by fighting this clown.
Well said deal If Wlad is so worried about ring-rust then fight an exhibition, or even better do what other fighters do and have a good sparring partner, don't fight some bum off the street and call it a heavyweight title fight. It's an insult to the whole sport.
