I don't think he has the worst chin, it's just that he's so untrained in terms of being hit that he goes into full panic mode. It's ultimately surprising He still does this over 60 fights.

He fought great, don't get me wrong. It's just the problem is that if he gets hit once he doesn't immediately regroup mentally and then let's an absolute barrage hit him, he forgets how to defend.

He would have won the fight if he didn't panic in the 11th round, Joshua didn't even have that much energy left but was able to hit him because he literally shut down on defense.

He is also a heavyweight, meaning he absorbs much harder punches so it's harder to recover.

He did OK in the 5th when dropped to recover and come back and hurt Joshua. But he could be better when hurt, same with Joshua, not sure how he survived those middle rounds he was getting hit a lot and didn't seem to be able to keep Wlad off him but somehow survived.

He almost pulled the upset but he fought poorly. Should tell us more about Joshua than the same 40 year old flick jabbing no right hand having Wladimir we've seen the last 3 years. He needs to retire.

He got knocked down in the 5th and then beat Joshua up for the rest of the round.

    Love panic like that+

There is some truth to what the OP says, Wlad always had problems when his opponents attack with power, speed and aggression.

I think it was the panic that in the 5th that put him down. He wasn't even cleanly put down in the 5th.

Great recovery though but Joshua never panics the entire fight even after eating numerous big shots and being absolutely floored in the 6th

I agree with this he needs to have a better game plan when hurt. He could have held or used footwork or movement to get out of the way. In the 5th round he had the right plan. It's kinda scary though both times Joshua bullrushed Wlad he was able to knock him down. I really think Wlad could have survived the 11th his legs were stable somewhat.

He does panic but it's because his chin isn't good. His legs go weak when he gets hit so he falls to the ground. Pretty simple. He showed good determination and heart. To answer MVC, Holyfield doesn't panic when hit but that's why he's an ATG.

Floyd is a great example who looks unfazed and very composed when attacked with the kitchen sink type approach even by an elite fighter. A rare example.

I would say about 5% of elite fighters remain this composed, if not less. Wlad is not one of them.

Unlike Joshua who was wise enough to spit out his gum shield when on the brink of defeat.
