To epxpand on this: I've seen this happen in fights with very muscular guys that go all out and fail to get the KO. Check out Carwin vs Lesnar. Mariusz Pudzianowski vs Sylvia. iirc Fujita Shamrock as well. The guys were winning by a mile and then they hit the wall.
it was probably a move by K2 the marketing team rather than wlad himself. He is likely fully aware by now that he is destructible to journeymen, but he wont say it outloud. terrible excuses though backfired horribly. just admit you arent good h2h.
That, and he panicked. He gassed quickly in the way you do when you're too tense. This fight reminds me to a degree of FOTC in how the taller fighter throws the kitchen sink at the smaller one (while eating some solid shots himself) and starting to show early signs of fatigue. But while Ali went a further 10 brutal rounds Wlad gassed completely within a minute or two. That's because he was tense. If he had had Ali's degree of relaxation he would have got Brewster out of there. Brewster was after all, as opposed to Frazier, badly hurt and on the verge of being stopped.
What ? ? This thread is about Wlad making excuses for his losses. I posted comment saying, yes, he makes excuses for his losses, and which isn't surprising since many of the most successful fighters do. And you're telling me my comment is irrelevant to the discussion ? ( like as if I'm ranting about art-deco architecture or the ideal climate for growing pineapples ....) What's irrelevant about discussing what's being discussed ?
Wlad did make statements supporting the allegations he hasn't repeated them for some time.Perhaps he realised he had egg on his face?
Look I've no wish to engage with you pal. I've just read your post on the British Forum saying there is a possibility that Wlad will go in the tank and the fight is pre- arranged, frankly a discussion with you doesn't appeal.
After watching a Klitschko documentary, it's clear that Wlad had a great team behind him. They took his career seriously. And they took his championship ambitions seriously. Klitschko defied his teams wishes when he fought Peters. In the documentary his manager said something like "We weren't sure if he would win this one, so we were very nervous. But Wlad wanted to prove himself."
By quoting my post and asking me "what's the relevance ?" you were engaging me. Directly and explicitly. Okay, so this is your idea of staying relevant to this thread's discussion ? Strange thing is, what I wrote in this thread was entirely in agreement with your posts (and 100% on-topic relevant) yet you for some reason queried it and came at me all argumentative. I explained myself in good faith already, can't do more than that. Thanks for taking an interest, I guess.
wlad brewster had nothing in common with fotc. comparing 2 of the best h2h going face to face with one of the weakest h2h champs vs a journeyman? i cannot think of two fights further apart, offhand.
let me guess, you believe both Ali/Liston fights were legit despite the allegations made including ex boxing manager Charles Farrell who was informed by Liston's manager that he was told to lose in both fights, and the eye test that blatantly shows they were fixed on Liston's behalf. Are you one of those deluded older generations that close your eyes to such possibilities?
