Hard to understand why he throws his hands in the air and launches himself backwards in a straight line every time a punch comes his way. Like, seriously, dude has seen it all, and has it all to put opponents on their arse, yet resorts to such a silly instinct under any kind of pressure.
You could say the same out of Vitali Klitschkos entire career. He didnt take those bombs either... But for the general boxing24fan this is - a story of glass and iron...
Ya, I mean I'd never call Vitali's chin glass or bad but it was sturdier than Wladamir then he gets hit with a bomb of an uppercut and he's suddenly George Chuvalo.
Not a myth. Wlad's glass jaw is why he has always fought scared. Joshua has no speed and not great power. But all he had to do was wait till a later round when Wlad was tired to execute Wlad without any problems at all.
Agreed, Joshua is slow and plodding. His power is not what people who don't know boxing pretend it is. Wlad has a poor chin. Once Purrity, Sanders, and Brewster knocked him out he changed his style. He would throw a jab and a right hand, then grab. That and the lack of real opponents is the reason he wasn't knocked out in the last 12 years. Not because his chin is great.
Chin checkers don't know what the **** they are talking about and haven't been in a fight before. Just ignorant fans that don't take into account determination, recovery, type of shots landed, which shots cause fighters to get hurt. This subject has been low IQ kindergarden level, mom's basement bum territory for the longest. That needs to change.
Technical knockout. Wlad was on his way out anyway. He had been knocked down twice that rd and wasn't looking like he could put up any form of defense/offense aside from trying to block with his gloves. Joshua was all over him and there was nothing stopping Joshua from wailing on Wlad. Just for the record I don't think Wlad has a glass jaw. About average or slightly less.
Not premature. Great stoppage, Wlad was finished. Offered Nothing back, took a mostrous uppercut before going down the 1st time in the 11th, took a handful of clean powerful punches going down the second time, was corned against the ropes offering nothing, didn't throw a punch after that initial uppercut from Joshua. Great stoppage imo, not knocking Wlad he was terrific last night, but Joshua's second wind was too much for him and the referee had to stop it before he went down again or ended up taking another brutal shot. Great fight, great heart, great knockdowns, great stoppage.
Iron no. Glass NO WAY. I'd say solid, but like the most suspect to big puncher's. At age 41, Wlad proved his chin and heart. No debate there. Wlad holds the record of champions in the division. No man was not floored with the title for 10+ years, except for Wlad.
Wlads chin is not glass. Its one grade up, probably equivalent to a paper mache. His just hasnt got the mentality of a fighter. Doesnt respond well to punches or pressure. Hes a great athlete though. Time to retire wlad and enjoy ur millions.
